I have been working my L1 Model 11 with T1 and Digitech V4 in my 14x7 padded (sort of) room. I will be playing in a Book Store atmosphere ie about 30 ft of glass, 2 walls about 25ft each and about 75 people, they want me set up in a corner. I can problably get about 10ft at the most away from my tower and sub. Hopeless? What sound differences should I expect?
Some users don't like corners, but I have never let them bother me. Bass response might be an issue, adjust accordingly, and if you are using effects they might be affected more from the reflections, as the wide dispersion makes its way out of the corner.
I would cut back on the effects, (if you use them) and only bring them into the mix as needed once I got started.
Pay attention to the mic, because, side reflections could increase the chance for feedback.
Start with volume a little lower than you use in rehearsal and bring it up as needed.
10 feet is plenty of room. Don't expect problems, but if they occur listen to what they are and solve the issue with a thoughtful approach. You're gonna have a ball.
I talked my local bar and grill into letting me use the back room during the middle of the day when no customers were in to test out my sound. I am glad I did. Although the acoustics were entirely different from where I will be playing I got to hear the Bose in a larger area. Cooks were coming out and saying it sounded real good and clear. One lady from up front couldnt tell where it was coming from I had to show her the column. Now thats cool.
