I would greatly appreciate any thoughts as to what the best wireless vocal mics are for use with the L1 system.

Oftentimes, we play for events where a microphone is needed by a presenter or MC and it needs to be mobile.

Thank you! 7777

Good question 7777,

My personal Mic is an RE-2 EV 767a wireless. It has excellent tone and handling, along with very good feedback rejection for my needs.

That being said, if you are only having guests that give a presentation or MC an event, the tonal characteristics are not that critical, especially with untrained or inexperienced people speaking.

If that is the only requirement, you could get away with some "Nady UHF 3 or 10 series Mic's" for less than $149. each ( The stuff under $100 is usually pretty bad). They sound pretty decent, they hold up very well and you won't feel so bad when (not if) someone drops one here and there.

I still use a (6year old) set of Nady xmitter/receivers in the UHF 10 series for my remote speakers and they work fine.

To me, there is a big difference in what I put up to my mouth for several hours and what gets passed around to multiple guests in varied health or various sober/inebriated conditions.

Hi Joel

I feel the same as you regarding quality of mic for professional use vs "guest" use. LOL!

I also try never to give a guest a wireless mic because for some reason they suddenly think they now are bon jovi and or are in "show" biz and start running or walking all over the room and then I have to go "chase'em". This can be real funny at a wedding reception! LOL!

Well, since this can of worms has been opened, it seems like a good place to jump in...

In addition to a wired vocal mic (see other thread in vocal section), I am considering a wireless headset mic. I am leaning very heavily on the Countryman. I know there are a few models/options, and I need to get the right one, but assuming that's done, some questions:

1. Since the actual mic is a Countryman, does it matter which wireless system I purchase it for, as far as sound quality? Or do I only need to worry about distance, freq, compression, general quality of equipment, etc. and all those other wireless considerations?

2. I have seen some threads re: feedback and plosivity, and I think the advice given covers that. Any other considerations re: the Countryman with an L1?

I will not be moving a long distance from the L1 or doing any kind of audience show, I just need a bit of mobility on stage (say within 5' left or right), and the ability to move my head and body without losing mic volume.

Thoughts?

Hi, Tres!

There seem to be two main choices with the Countryman: the E6 and the Isomax versions.

Here is a link to some earlier discussions; the 2nd note in that discussion has links to two other threads that are worth reading.

(Edit: fixed typo in text.)
