This is a pro audio application for bands/venues and the line array is digitally steerable. Up until now they have only had the multi piece towers for installations in highly reflective churches, govt. buildings, etc around the world.
Every single speaker in that column has its own amp and DSP behind it in the tower. Plus, using a computer, you can decide where audio goes and where it doesn't.
I can change the acoustical center (origin)of the speaker as well. The beam from each speaker inside the column can be made 30 degrees wide or as narrow as 5 degrees. And I can steer the audio up or down up to 30 degrees, without ever moving or angling the column. This gives me precise aiming of the audio thru the venue or hall.
RH released the IC Live at the Winter NAMM show and you get the chance to work on one I highly suggest you do!
Some of the RH Iconyx towers cost up to $24,000 each. Personally, I've not installed them past about $14,000 each and that was a 12' column on each side of a highly reverberant Church that had several install constraints (ie. no exploded cluster, no delay speakers flown over the congregation).
