I'm planning to soon order the PAS. Question. Why no reverb algorithym(sp?) in the unit?

For the past 6 months, we have been using the PAS for jam sessions. We have used the system 'dry' with no reverb and that's how it sounds...dry. One of the group used a small mixer with reverb for the vocals and it adds a lot.

I understand there are other algorithms added in, but why not the reverb for voice?

Curious.

Hey Pic,

The good news is that you can use your favorite reverb unit with the system by hooking it up through the insert loop on channels one or two.

The bad news is that while the system is upgradable, it is not possible for us to add reverb to the system. I'll oversimplify here; a reverb/delay circuit requires something to "hold" the signal and the system does not have the a circuit that lends itself to such work.

I hope that helps with the curiosity.

Steve

PS There was a great amount of contemplation about reverb and delay being included in the product when it was developed, and the decision was made to leave it out.

Thanks Steve,

The reverb thing isn't going to stop me from buying the PAS as it's the best thing I've used in my 30+ years of jamming and gigging. We use mostly vocals, bass and acoustic.

Keep up the good work.

Smile

OMT - As Steve mentioned the L1 has insert jacks but don't overlook how ch's 3/4 can be used as "mix" returns for reverb/delay effects.

These Bose preamps are so "nice" I dislike completely breaking the ch 1/2 signal to run it through what is likely "lesser" circuitry in my outboard rack. But, use a mono 1/4" phono plug into the 1st click/position of the insert jack, you'll get a "parallel" output to feed a verb/delay unit. Return 100% wet output back into either ch 3 or 4 and you have a nice way to mix a little "effect" to the original tone without fully breaking the ch 1/2 signal path.

The problem is if you need ch 3/4 for other instrument inputs so it's not always practical to do parallel effects. But for me it's easier to grab a 1/4" mono as opposed to an insert cable and I think it sounds better while offering more control to the reverb mix.

Enjoy the stick!

In light of the above, how would you suggest trying a BBE Maximizer or Digitech Vocalist ? My vocalist is afraid her vocal is a little dry. I explained to her the new concept, but want to be ready with an alternative at rehearsal at the venue.
