Here's the pictures of the L1-Hanger that I "made". I started with a "Dura-Pro Swivel-Mount Guitar Hanger" from MusicYo.com MYWH-100-BK for $7.99 (it's $6.99 today-wow). I'm no Tim-The-Tool-Man, but I used a Dremel to shape the hanger part into a round-cornered rectangle or oval, so it would slide at an angle into the bayonet slot, but still be wide enough to fit and be sturdy. I touch-up painted the shaved parts back to black, and covered the back (that sits against the L1) with the felt side of a velcro strip. Viola! Patent-Pending, Royalties, Visions Of Sugarplums!
The series of pics shows the modified hanger, how it slides into place, and holds the guitar (the prongs tighten to hold the guitar firmly, then release).
Excellent job Mike In Texas! It's an inexpensive, easy-to-do project that works! I'm just waiting for the -at- Bose guys to give the weight allowances (I have an electric).
Thanks for sharing that.

I'd feel a little leery hanging too much weight from only that tab? Plus, if it got too hot during grinding/cutting it might be slightly softer? Does it (the tab) feel pretty resilient and unlikely to bend and pull-out?
What am I thinking? Hang a 50lb bag of sand from the thing and see what it does? The L1's still under warranty, right? LOL...
Cool, cool deal, bro!

Even with the sheet metal bracket,it is still possible to trace and grind to the same profile as the "bayonet". If you only rounded the bottom on one side and the top on the other, that would leave a little more meat in the horizontal bend of the bracket, and spread the stress in a different manner for those who think the "ears" as shown by Mike are not strong enough.
I suspect when the weight goes beyond what the "ears" will hold you got too much weight anyway.
Hi all, Just a little update on the guitar hanger front. We've been working with a company that is interested in making and selling a guitar hanger for the L1. We've received a sample from this company and have done some preliminary testing which all looks great! We're helping them tweak their design a bit and we should have another update in a couple weeks about the availability of such a third-party offering. So far it works great for holding up (most) guitars. The hanger swivels from the rear or side and is removable for travel. We've had one guitarist come by and mention how great it would be if the hanger locked the guitar into place for safe leave during breaks. Would anyone else be interested in such a feature?
Hey Kyle thanks for the update! I've been waiting to hear what the verdict is on the guitar hanger. The Bose system is great, but the PS1 does tend to eat up some floor space on some of the tight stages we play on and the hanger idea is perfect!
At first thought, I didn't think I would need a locking device, but what the heck? It sure couldn't hurt to have it there just in case. I don't think anyone will ever go up on stage and knock the guitar off of the hanger; however, if anyone tried to steal the guitar, then maybe the locking device would slow them down or frustrate them just enough to give up the idea or give me time to see them!
Thanks for following through with the hanger idea. You guys are fantastic!

Hi Kyle -
The hanger with a locking feature is something that I'd be interested in.

I would definately like to see this hangar available for purchase. I like the locking idea also. Just a question. Is it possible to make this a double hangar whereby the hangars will actually be on both sides of the cylinder with the mechanism to attach it sliding into the groove in the rear. This way two guitar bands, like ours, can both hang their axes on the "tree" and use less space as well as look pretty neat? When can I order mine? Thanks.
Just curious if this is still a work in progress (the guitar hanger). If it is, I'll gladly wait for it, if not, I'll start the process of making one like Mike in Texas did.

I heard Kyle-at-Bose talking with the manufacturer yesterday. He's got the latest update but yes, it is a work in progress. The last round is nearly complete. The last round was close but no guitar ... I mean cigar.
