OK guys, I just downsized & got a car that's a lot more green than my previous vehicle - a Honda Pilot. I picked up a Honda Fit from the dealer this week & have been getting used to it. Tonight I have a gig with the band, so I loaded it up just for grins with all the band stuff I could fit into it. (I'll be taking the Pilot because I think it's too much weight - the max is 850 lbs), but how many Classics, B1's, cases with cables, lights, & guitars do you think I fit into it with the back seats folded down? I didn't use the front seat at all. Here's a couple pics of the vehicle to give you an idea.

BTW, we sold my wife's car - a Jeep Grand Cherokee with 200,000 miles on it - & she'll be driving the Pilot for short trips & the Fit for long trips as I will.

ST,

You're close, but there's more than that.

I'm dying to tell you, but is anyone else here today who wants to venture a guess?

Tom

It's a pretty quiet day here on the forum, & I'm an impatient guy, so I'll post a couple pics to bump this.

Too much weight?

1 Classic + B1 = ~ 95 pounds
The rest can't weigh *THAT* much?

Here's what I have.

4 Classics with CR gun cases = 280 lbs
6 B1's = 168 lbs
3 gear cases with cords, mics, T1's, A1, remotes = 100 lbs est.
5 mic stands & two light stands = 40 lbs est.
acoustic & Strat guitars = 25 lbs est.
CD's & laptop = 10 lbs est.
Driver = 200 lbs est.

Total = 823 lbs

I may be off a bit on some things, so you may add or subtract 50 lbs or so.

I forgot the lights. They fit in another gun case that can't weigh more than 20 lbs - maybe less.

So I'm pretty close to the max weight of 850 lbs. Do you think I should chance it?

Oh I don't know. The only piece of gear that I push to capacity without reservation is the L1®.

Amazing that you got it all in there. 42 cubic feet according to the specs.

I guess I'll chance it tonight. It's a short drive to the gig. Wish me luck.

O, and Tom,

As always, it takes green to be green. Nice ride, and looks like you can get all your stuff in it, but don't drink too much coffee on the way, it will put you over weight.

BTW we are white here in ND. Another 9 inches of snow today to add to our total for the year. I94 was closed earlier today, and I was doing two gigs 2 1/2 hours away last night and tonight. I almost got stranded at my parents tonight, but they opened the highway this afternoon.

I did see several rolled over semi's on the way home. Nice winter.

Tom you are the man I need to talk to this coming weekend. I have been looking at the Fit and a Toyoa Yaris. Both are rated high. I had a chance to test a Smart car this past summer. They let me load it up. A L1, T1 2 B1's Guitar and stands etc. It was tight but it fit. They took a picture but I didn't get one. Looking forward to your opinions on the car. Roy

No hills to climb.

I had no trouble getting around. I'm still in the 600 mile break-in period so I took it easy. The band used to say they were amazed when they saw me get the gear I had tonight into my Honda Pilot. Imagine their surprise when they saw me pull up in the Fit with the same equipment. The only funky things were that I put pillows against the back window to protect the back window from the guitars & cases & I also attached a cargo net with carabiners to the back seat grab handles to keep the guitars from sliding forward.

I didn't even notice I had 2000 posts. On one of the other forums I frequent they would definitely put me on the "no life" club for that.

Gordy,

This vehicle would definitely NOT get around in that kind of snow. I heard you got some snow. My mom's in Nebraska, & they got some too, but not as much as you.
