Thanks to some great advice from ST, and what a great forum this has been for reading up on the system, we have purchased an L1 Mk 1 and have just finished our first practice with it.
I won't start with setup as there wasn't enough to talk about ! I'm sure everyone does this the first time but from the getgo it took us 15 minutes to set it up and dial in presets. We have a T! but have had a few issues getting the power supply - maybe something to think about for Bose - so we weren't able to use the T! for the practice.

We set up and tried the mics (2 Senheissers ) without presets then with the 855 preset. Wow ! Immediately had to turn them down a bit. We use an iPhone for our backings and were immediately caught out. While taking our backing track (Eagles Peaceful Easy Feeling) over to Garageband from the keyboard we created it on we noticed on the headphones and on garageband that there was a tiny bit of clipping. We dismissed it saying that it would never be heard and have played with it that way for over 6 months. Guess what? At that point in the song we turned and looked at each other and burst out laughing. The clipping was clearly heard by all.

I could go on about the Taylor preset which along with ES system produces the best sound I've ever heard from an acoustic but I'll confine myself to saying that there was a bit of me that thought this is a lot of money to pay for a pole. I was wrong. Our gig money from now on will be going towards a second one.

First gig with it is next Saturday. I'll post reflections then as its in a small noisy pub and being an avid reader of the forums now I know there have been a few thoughts about issues there.

Jim:
Welcome to audio paradise. (LOL)If your IPhone is is 3G wi-fi make sure the Airport mode is off (if you haven't done so already). Cheers!

Thanks for the advice, Brian. I had remembered but you're right. It doesn't bear thinking about Smile

We've already had one nightmare where I panicked thinking the backing to a particular song wasn't loud enough, tried to alter it on the iPhone with the volume slider as the phone was nearer than the mixing desk, finger slipped onto the fast forward button . . . . and you can imagine the rest.

Sorry, Brian, just in case other new iPhone owners are tuning in, I think you meant airplane mode should be on?

Jim. Sorry, what I meant on the IPhone was that the WI-FI should be OFF. Otherwise someone with Apple Airport on a laptop or another router may cause interference and yes Airplane mode should be ON. Cheers! Brian.

Thanks. You're safe enough just switching on Airplane mode as that automatically switches Wi-Fi off.
