I had the distinct pleasure being one of the participants in the first Mountain Sessions, sometimes as performer, sometimes as audience. I heard a number of awesome performances by the participating bands.
On first hearing the system used, my mind was immediately blown by the fact that the sound was "better than CD quality," that I was hearing more detail and a better balance than I was used to from my home stereo system. Then I found out that it didn't matter where I stood or sat in the room - including on-stage - I got the same sound quality. I later heard a duo acoustic Jazz performance of the standard "Autumn Leaves," and was amazed at how I could hear the acoustic bass solo. I've heard a lot of acoustic bass solos in my time, but never have I heard the tone and detail that I heard in that performance. I felt I was hearing the bass as if I were the one playing it, and I was seated in the back of the room. If you ever get the chance to hear a Jazz trio playing thru this new system, I HIGHLY recommend you do so. We tried out everything, a lot of styles, both electric and acoustic - funk, soul, jazz, rocking blues, folk. It was, to say the very least, an eye- (and ear-) opening experience. I think that you're going to notice a difference the very first time you hear a band using this system. Yours, Amado |
