Let me start the ball rolling... Here's Sam Jones on YouTube.

And here's Don Ward, check out his "Because" while you're there...great.

I love YouTube...and doesn't everyone?

This appears to be a misprint. At the bottom of the article they show "Soundcrew: Bose L1"
The soundcrew should have been a list of peoples names. The article says that Prince uses d&b wedges for monitors.
The next article down includes info about Todd Rundgren who does in fact use a pair of L1/B1 for a stage monitor. There was an interesting line in the article,

quote:
But it is his choice of monitor speakers that is truly inspired—a pair of Bose L1 towers matched with a couple of B1 subs. Bose’s marketing for this system is that everyone in the band has one and together they “become” the sound system—and Frazza says the folks at Bose were pretty horrified at his idea and tried to talk him out of it “right up until the day before the tour.”

Why were the folks at Bose horrified by this use of the L1?

No suggestion here of being "horrified". Please see original post:

Cliff-at-Bose posts about Todd Rundgren

(My post in that thread was my first in this forum...man, time flies!)

If they were using the L1, that statement would be true. The Bose L1 IS the only soundcrew you need when everyone has their own.

I think they mixed the lines of "sound crew" and "personal monitiors".

Two thoughts:

I really liked the song. The intro and melody were both beautiful to my ears. The sound to me was what you'd get with a tiny omni on a consumer video camera in a reverberant environment.

When you say "What's with this one [?]" if I were the artist, my feelings would be deeply hurt. As a longtime citizen of this community I feel embarrassed about that and if I could do it, I would apologize to the artist. If he can hear me, "On behalf of this community, I am sorry. This is not what we stand for. I think your music is lovely and look forward to the time I can hear you in person."

Ken,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I am not offended, but did want you to know that the environment had a lot of ambient noise and the video was actually recorded on my Canon Powershot S2 digital camera. Not even a camcorder, and with no external mic. I thought that it sounded pretty good, and when I went back did realize that it was a little hard to understand.

To Robert L. Here are the words for the song. Give it a re-listen with the words, and it will make more sense as to why I was singing with low volume and with some feeling. I appreciate the constructive criticism, as I am always looking to improve my performances, and will try to really emphasize the words, as that is where the meaning lies in this song.

I am playing the same gig on Saturday, and will try to re-record it with a better camera.

Thanks again for the L1 and for this forum.

AT THE LAKE

THERE’S A FAMILY OF LOONS SERENADING US TO SLEEP
WITH THE WAVES SOFTLY LAPPING
AND THE WIND CHIMES IN THE EAVES
IT’S THE MELODY OF SUMMER
CARRIED ON A COOL NIGHTS BREEZE
IT’S A SYMPHONY OF PEACE OUT AT THE LAKE

WITH THEIR MOTOR SOFTLY HUMMING,
THE FISHERMEN DEPART
I CAN HEAR THE CHILDREN STIRRING
WITH A WARMING IN MY HEART
AS I’M LYING HERE IN BED WAITING FOR THE DAY TO START
THERE’S A RYTHYM TO LIFE’S MUSIC AT THE LAKE

CHORUS
AT THE LAKE, WHERE WE LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND
AT THE LAKE, WHERE WE COME TO UNWIND
AT THE LAKE, WHERE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO TIME
THERE’S A SYMPHONY OF PEACE OUT AT THE LAKE,
THERE’S A RYTHYM TO LIFE’S MUSIC AT THE LAKE

I CAN HEAR THE THUNDER ROLLING
AS THE RAIN BEGINS TO FALL
THERE’S A MUSIC IN THE RAINDROPS
COMING FROM THE SUMMER SQUALL
WHEN LIFE’S PUSHIN IN ON ME, I GO FORGET IT ALL
IT’S A REGULAR PERFORMANCE AT THE LAKE

BRIDGE

AT THE LAKE, WHERE WE LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND
AT THE LAKE, WHERE WE COME TO UNWIND
AT THE LAKE, WHERE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO TIME
THERE’S A SYMPHONY OF PEACE OUT AT THE LAKE,
THERE’S A RYTHYM TO LIFE’S MUSIC AT THE LAKE
IT’S A REGULAR PERFORMANCE AT THE LAKE

LOVE the ukelele! I enjoy playing mine the rare times I make for it. Now, the WORLD MASTER on the uke is Jake Shimabukuro, best known on the net for his incredible take on the Beatles "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by the late wonderful soul George.

Jake Shimabukuro plays "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

Actually, an even better performance is this clip with the amazing acoustic player Tommy Emmanuel:

Jake & Tommy Gently Weep

Tommy E Guitar Boogie

Please pardon the Non-L1 related links, but this IS somewhat on point with the original post...

And yes, Gordy's voice on his nice song is very good, but it is down in the mix a bit. Nice guy, good singer and player...

Hey Gordy,

I loved reading the lyrics to the song.

We have a cabin in Northern Minnesota and it is one of the most cherished places in my life.

Your song inspired me to share some photos with you.

Here's a shot of the seals sunning themselves on the rocks (kids on the swimming dock).

We use the cabin in Winter too. Here, we take the kids out for a ski in a snow storm. Beautiful.

So is your song, Kings Court.
