Hi there. I'd like to reintroduce myself. Some of the earliest members of these forums may remember me from my old username, ClarkW, and my progressive rock band, Hourglass. Back in January 2004 (has it been so long!?) I purchased 3 Bose L1 systems (then called the PAS) shortly after their introduction.
I thrice made the 45 minute drive from Provo, UT up to Salt Lake City, to the only Guitar Center in Utah for the express purpose of auditioning the new Bose system that I had heard about. I was very active in these forums as I learned and shared how to use my three systems to run sound for a 5-piece progressive metal band, a 5 piece pop/rock/country cover band, a 7-piece Italian folk music ensemble, various jazz combos, and even to figure out how to amplify the 47-string concert grand pedal harp of my then-fiancee, now-wife. Indeed, it almost seems like my Bose systems have been with me all of my professional music life, and you should have heard me grumble on occasions where I wasn't the one charged with the burden of controlling my sound! Alas, I no longer had the time to indulge in my rocker alter-ego when I started my MBA and then became a father, and my Bose systems mostly sat in a closet quietly gathering dust. But fortunately, I didn't have to forsake Bose entirely. When hunting for an MBA internship, I found a few openings listed on Bose's corporate website and sent my resume in, unsolicited. I included with it a cover letter in which I admit to shamelessly gushing about how much I loved my L1s, how impressed I was with the sales and technical support offered through these forums, and how interested I was in working for a company that made such wonderful products and was run by such wonderful people. I suppose they're not entirely immune to flattery here, because I got the job. More specifically, I got an internship with the Home Entertainment division (you know, Wave radios, SoundDocks, Lifestyle home theater systems, etc), and then got a full time job offer to come back after my MBA was done. I gladly accepted, and have been working here since last summer. I've not been very engaged in these forums in quite some time due to the lower priority in my life that live music has taken in the past few years, but I was so excited about the introduction of the L1 Compact that I wanted to jump back into things. After all, the best place for me to learn how I could use the L1 Compact is here with this community! So hello again, and I hope we'll see more of each other! -Clark Bose Home Entertainment |

Hi Clark (Woolensteen is it?), good to read you again. Interesting story and one I'd imagine all of us would like to tell about ourselves! Unfortunately, no degree for me...just a hick with a love of great sound and innovative approaches.
Good to have you back on the forums again, and am looking forward to hearing about any new bands you might have. |
