So we've been using three Personal Amplification Systems in church for the last 10 or 11 months and the results have been wonderful from my (guitar, V-Drums) perspective. I've heard good things from the congretation about the quality of sound and I've experienced the ability to hear like never before while on stage.

But, I've rarely heard the three systems live from the audience perspective so during practice, I took a few moments to get up from my drum kit and walk around the gym (we meet in a school gym) while the lead guitar, bass/vocalist and acoustic guitar/vocalist ran through a song. I specifically concentrated on the concept of the "cocktail party" effect and I was absolutely blow away at how well this worked. I picked out the lead guitar sound and the sound was coming from (gasp!) the lead guitar direction, and so on...

As thrilled as I was with the "perspective of the musician" performance of the PAS, I'm even more thrilled by how it sounds in the audience.

And I walked around the entire audience seating area and, yes, the sound was balanced everywhere. I'm not an audio engineer and I can't recite formulas that describe how sound acts, but I know good quality sound when I hear it and man, did I ever hear it this past Sunday.

John

Hi John,

Very cool! What a great enhancement to the worship experience. Intimacy in worship is restored with everyone is in the same sound space.

Welcome back Cakes,
Glad to hear all is well.

I know what you mean about finally hearing multiple systems,
at Big Sur was my first exposure to that...6 systems and as many players.
What a sound!
