Hi all!
Finally purchased our L1 + bass module
We had to wait for the weekend to give it a good workout at home - love the sound!

Can't wait to try it out in the real world!

Impressions so far:

My wife's gig mike of choice, an EV N/D 457A sounds best flat (the 00 preset) though the 04 preset looks to be good for if she wants a little more edge for cutting through in a louder or more noisy situation. None of the other presets are very flattering. She's got a duo gig (vocal, guitar) today and a trio gig next week (vocal, guitar, bass) so she gets the first real world test!

Kudos for the SM58 preset, however - it sounds great on vocals, as advertised, as does the Martin D28.

I'm at the baby steps stage of figuring out how to best use it for saxophone, (though even in my current misuse of it, it still sounds great). I'm very exited at the idea of being able to have my sound totally tweaked and bringing it with me to the gig! What a pain in the butt figuring it out though - now I know what guitar players go through...

My live looping show rig mixes everything (sax, vocals, effects)through a Yamaha MG12/4, there seems to be lots of choices of how to hook it up to the L1 - maybe I'll post my setup in the technical part of the forum for suggestions...

Any other sax players out there using this? How often do you bring it to a gig (that's not your own)? I can only imagine the reactions I'm going to get when I show up at the club with this thing!

Anyways, glad to be here as a bona fide L1 owner and user!!

Hi Tom,

Nice to have you hear! Glad you have become bona fide.

Vocal presets:
Try them all, I use an Audix OM5 and love it, use the OM5 preset #05. The others in my band use Beta 58s and have found that #05 rather than the SM58 preset #14 sound better for their voices.

I also used to have a couple of Beta 87 mics that I personally didn't like, but they sure sounded good on female vocals.
