I can't tell you how many events I've attended featuring a person speaking, amplified (to use the term loosely) by a podium with a built-in mic, amplifier, and speaker, which usually sounds like inaudible mush. I was sitting and listening to a wonderful speaker at the local colege the other night and envisioning a podium with a half-size L-1 attached to the front of it that I could hear clearly, instead of the 12" speaker built in, that was having low-mid feedback if it was turned up enough to hear well. I think it would be a great product, and pretty easy to market, not to mention a great blessing to anyone who attends such an event. Please, do us all a favor. Thanks to all the Bose folks for all the great work!

I've been thinking more about this, and I've decided I'm serious (it's hard for me to tell sometimes) - but I'm telling you I can see the ads in the cool business mags - Fast Company and all that, sort of like the Bose Wave Radio/CD Player ads. You could make it look very cool (of course you would) with a nice Bose logo, a little L-1 half-size speaker in front, perhaps decoupled vibrationally from the rest of the housing, a decent mic, perhaps a little sub in the bass of the podium. You could sell a pile of them! Every company would want them - if they wanted to be both cool and have people at their room-size presentations actually be able to understand the presentation - what a concept! And you would truly be doing the world a favor - I have been to many presentations for which I would have run sound for gratis just so I could hear what was being said, loud and clear. You don't even have to send me a percentage of the profits - what a deal, huh? Okay, I'll be quiet now. Thanks again and as always for a great product.

Don, I remember my first experience with one of those fancy Anchor Liberty systems. The podium was made of a really cool hardwood & the system even had a built-in wireless mic receiver. I thought it was so cool. Then they fired it up & started to talk over it. It was horrible! I couldn't believe it sounded so bad for costing nearly $2000. I've seen so many of those at fancy hotels, & they always have feedback problems & nearly unlistenable quality. I think that's why every movie or TV show that has someone on a mic always has to have that brief feedback squeal before they start to speak. People just expect that horrible quality. I think a Bose podium system is an excellent idea, & I wouldn't doubt that the "at-Bose" boys could do it in a heartbeat.
