Pic,
Wow, you guys may have the new record for most number of systems per capita. I think this just goes to show that demonstrating this system is the best way for someone to figure out if it is right for them. Watch for falling monitor prices ... move 'em if you got 'em. Steve |

Thanks Steve,
My Boxe PAS arrived via UPS less than 24 hours from the time the order was placed. That's quick. The PAS was ordered directly from Bose. I traded paying tax to Bose for shipping costs(free overnight air from Bose) for shipping costs from Guitar Center in the Twin Cities 300+ miles away. Purchasing from G.C. would have only saved me a few $$ and would have taken 3 or 4 days longer to arrive. That free overnight air shipping from Bose is a real plus. Good job Bose! Happy Camper here. |

Steve,
You mentioned that demonstrating the system is the best way to go. I agree. Those of us that bought the Bose in our area have all been playing for at least 30 or more + years in live venues. Most of our playing is done to groups of 300 or less although we have used the PAS in venues of up to 600 and outside. All of us have owned or do own other P.A. systems to include Mackie, Yamaha, EV and some JBL. We all consider these good systems but we all switched for the following reasons to the PAS. (1) Time to try out the system. All of us have had ample time to try out the PAS in our respective venues and have had time to compare it to other systems we have access to. We are all traditionalists and have used traditional systems for many years so it really helped to have time to get used to the PAS. (2) Ability to hear. We're all in our 40's & 50's and hearing is an issue. None of the other systems mentioned allow us to hear each other as well as the PAS does. And the PAS is excellent in this respect. This is a big deal to us. (3) Portability. Believe it or not, it was my wife(who is more frugal than me) who suggested buying the PAS and not me. I was all for it of course. My wife really likes the portability of the PAS vs. the other systems we've used/owned. (4) Simplicity Even using an added mixer. It's pretty quick and easy to set up the PAS and have it tuned in with not much effort and in a short amount of time. One of the fellows in our group has an 'oldies' band; just he and his wife. They play at least once a week. He now uses two radiators and four subs(in smaller venues he uses one radiator and two subs) and has said that he has cut his set up time to 1/3 of what he did before. His equipment(other than the PAS) includes guitar, bass, mixer and drum machine. According to him, it took him 4 front of house speakers, two monitors and two power amps(mixer also) to accomplish the same thing he does with two PAS systems. (4) Cost One of the items that initially set us back on our heels was hearing the cost of the PAS. We're all older and pretty frugal with our money. However, by the time we would buy more good quality mixers, amps, monitors and F.O.H. speakers, the cost difference was negligible. And for us, cheaper than buying a newer system. (5) Space Savings A couple of thoughts here: The PAS seems to fit better in smaller areas when we are playing in smaller venures..i.e. it takes up less room. It's more subtle. It's not as 'in your face' as the more traditional systems we've used. For example: My mother is in a nursing home and it's one of the places we play. Using our other P.A. with speakers out front etc., someone will usually say something like, "You sure have a lot of equipment there, is it going to be loud?" You get the idea. Anyway, when we first used the PAS and set it up behind us we heard comments to the effect: "see I told you that you didn't need all that equipment and we all heard you folks just great" Also, the PAS takes up less room in our vehicle than our other system did. This all probably sounds like a pitch for the PAS and I guess it is. I'm semi-retired and spent 25 years in industry working part of that time in R & D. From first hand experience, I know how tough it is to come up with a totally new concept. I really believe the PAS does that so kudos to you at Bose. This will be my long epistle as a new PAS owner so I will try not to bore anyone too much in the future expounding like this. I do though, like to recognize a good job done when I see it and, in my mind anyway, Bose has done it with the PAS. pic |

Hi Pic,
Great testimony! I let a friend of mine use one of my systems for a concert at a retirement home Friday night. Everybody loved it, especially the folks using hearing aids. Dan Dan Sayan Product Specialist Bose Assisted Direct Sales |

Thanks, nice report.
RE the portability, I used to tow an "equipment" trailer to gigs. Now everything goes into the trunk & back seat of my Camry, including guitar, stool, and misc. gear. Respect Col. Andy |

It is tough ... AND it is equally as hard trying to get others to try something new. Especially when the new approach is so different. I've been on the engineering side and marketing side now and there is no "easy" side to new product development. Thanks for the story, Steve |

To Steve, Ken and the rest of you at Bose... Again, thanks for creating an excellent concept that's fun to work with. You guys deserve the thanks. We used my friend's PAS again last night(mine is being used at home right now). Us 'older' guys were doing some 60's tunes and 3 part harmonies. It was so good to be able to hear those harmonies like I haven't been able to in a number of years. The PAS is the tool that does that for me. Nice. To those of you still debating trying the PAS.... My suggestion...get it and try it out. You won't be sorry. Take care all. |
