Please correct me if I am wrong.
If you have 2 L1's with 2 T1's, this would give you a total of 18-channels; 5 for each T1, 4 for each L1. Using 2 of the channels on the L1's for 2-channels output of the T1's(main & aux) this would give you a total of 14-channels; 5 from each T1 and now 2 from each L1. With this set-up you could have both T1's and both L1 remotes right there on the micstand! 14-channels at your fingertips, how cool is that I must ask, choked full of coolness to me! Question is, by using 2 L1’s, would there be any interference or issues between them? By controlling the gains and master volume at low levels, would there be an advantage besides having the extra channels? Thanks for the insight! |

Hi Cletus McDuff,
Possible with two T1®s and two Model Is: Yes! For a solo performer, unless you were running backing tracks in stereo, I doubt that there would be any audible benefit at low levels. If you need to fill a big space then yes, you could use one L1® at a distance to extend your coverage area. Having two L1®s for the same sound source tends not to convey much benefit (about 3 dB SPL), but unless you are running at the maximum output already, you can get the same increase just by turning up the Master Volume. BUT If you have two performers and each one runs exclusively through an L1® behind him/her, now you have extreme sonic coolness! See Cocktail Party Effect for more information on why this is desirable. I do all my duo shows with two L1®s. ALL of them. Follow the link above and find out why. Choked full of coolness. |

St, What if I have 4-5 performers? This seems it would work nicely like this.

Hi Cletus McDuff,
Yes, I have run 4-5 performers through a couple of L1®s with T1®s. And yes, it works nicely. Very nicely. (Not as nicely as having one L1® for each performer though). When I have more performers than L1®s I imagine that each L1® serves the performers closest to it. I put the L1®s behind the performers spread out across the width of the stage. With two L1®s I would start off with the L1®s at the one quarter and three quarter positions across the stage. Then I might have to do a little tweaking after getting everyone plugged in. Each performer is heard through only one L1®, the closest one. See: Stage Layouts - Two L1®s Click the picture for more details. |

Hi, Cletus!
FYI: There is no particular need to use the AUX output from the T1 if you "dedicate" a T1 to each L1. Think of them as two separate speaker systems, each with 5+3 inputs (5 on T1, 3 on Model 1, the 4th Model 1 input being used by the T1). When you have a true stereo source (such as an MP3 player), you could run the L output to one L1 and the R output directly to the other L1 (e.g.: into that now-freed up 3rd "Line Input" on each Model 1). That also has the advantage of leaving the Aux output of the T1's open for other uses when something unusual arises. |
