I realize how silly of a question the title is, but hey, I thought I might ask.

Really, what I'm asking, is if anyone has seen anyone selling their L1 system, or if theres some way to find used or refurbished L1s at a (relatively) lower price. I search the internet for "used bose L1" and all I find is;

"I used the L1 and it blew me away!"

Maybe if people weren't so positive about it I could find some results! Smile

I realize it is infinitely better to buy from Bose or rather, a Bose 'sponsored' dealer. But see, I'm not exactly a professional performer. I do (or, well, I used to) play small, I mean small gigs, and play with other people-which I hope to start doing again-but I really want it for a monitor, so I can REALLY hear myself practice. I still like to go down the guitar center and play guitars and sing (or something like it, Big Grin ) through the L1. It just does so much for my practice, being able to really hear myself rather than nothing at all or a shrill PA system.

I would use my PA system I had before, but not only was it frustrating not being able to hear myself, but I sold ALL of my audio gear except for my instruments, a mic, and a pedal, before I went into the military. Now I'm at home in the reserves and I'm stuck with no gear to work with. Problem is Uncle Sam didn't pay too well (something on the order of $2.00/hr 16 hrs. a day, heh) and I can't justify, nor find, $2,000 for an L1 system at this point, no matter how robust it may be.

So, in summary, I'm just wondering if anyone knows of anyone who is parting with their L1, a secondhand distributor, or anything which would help me out. I'm obviously not expecting $500 for a double bass system (though I did see that offer on ebay, I decided it was a scam after they wanted me to wire money to them, Frown) I really would love a little nudge in the cheaper direction.

Thank you for any help!
Take care and happy playing!

Naturally, upon thinking a little more, it doesn't make a lot of sense to ask for second hand product on a company's official forum. I noticed a lot of ads in another section of the forum, but I think they're all spoken for.

So, if, you know, this is against policy or anything, I understand totally...

Still would love any help I can get. Big Grin

Ah, again, sorry about that. It occured to me afterwards that might be the case, but it's been so long since I've been in the 'real world' that I couldn't remember what I read when I signed up.

Sorry about that.

eBay is full of used L1 systems. Also check Craigslist in your area. I see them quite often in the San Francisco Craigslist.
Good hunting,
Robert L

Actually, the reason I came here was because most (more than 90%) of the L1 units on ebay are scams.

Thanks, though.

I have my eBay search function set to notify me of any L1s for sale.
There is usually a unit or maybe two for sale at any given time (none at the moment).
I wouldn't really call that "full of" them. Smile

Actually, based on the reliability of the system and L1 owners satisfaction with the product, two might honestly define "full" as it will ever get. Also there is certainly a significant difference between the L1 becoming available because they don't meet the needs of musicians because of the sound, and someone needing the cash from a product that can hold its value.

Hi Spook,

I looked on Ebay awhile back for about a month straight for L1's, the few I saw were almost all scams.

I am glad you weren't fooled. Smile

Take Care,
Ted
