i'm thinking of purchasing an ext. bass package. for my bose pole's . i have two already with 3 subs. still not enough low end for the band. would the two more bass modules and amp sound 1000 dollars better or should i stick to what i got. the problem is the kick drum is real weak and we don't even run our bass player thru it.. what ya'll think?

Jason,
One of the great things about the A1 PackLite ™ Extended Bass Package (A1 + two B1 Bass Modules) is that it works, works well, and was designed to be dead-simple to operate with the rest of the System. That is, plug it in, it sounds exactly as it should and you don't have to work at it, to make that happen. Another great thing is that you can try it out and if it doesn't do what you want, you can send it back. See: 45 Day Trial from Bose & Other Purchase Options . I notice a huge difference for Kick Drum - especially with an AKG D112 and preset #72. I'm not a Drummer, but I really appreciate the difference. |

Jason,
I'm a drummer (of sorts) and I totally appreciate the difference. You might also need to put some time into your kick drum too. Evans EMAD batter, a good muffling pillow, like the Evans EQ gate, a resonant head w/5" hole, an Audix D6 mic. Tune the drum well. As a matter of fact Jason, this is your lucky day...I'm snowed in and am going to record my kick drum for you, with and without the packlite bass package. We'll see what you think. I'll get back to you as soon as I get the video dumped to the PC. |

I run my bass & vocals and my drummers e kit through a L1 with 4 bass modules and a packlight.
Guitarist has one of her own now. Going through all L1 makes it so easy to get a nice mix. We play rock/metal, sounds pretty killer to me. |

Angello,
I think you mean "Snowed In" and there are some places in the U.S. that get "Snowed In", but it is a relative term. I most parts of the States, it is about 1" of snow, and they cancel schools etc... but I grew up in Minnesota and now live in North Dakota. It takes a foot of snow to even think about canceling school, and it was -21F this morning, and both my kids had school. Ha, Like I said it is all relative. We believe that the cold temps keep the riff raff out. |

Drumr,
Great video demo. It really makes the point that a drummer needs to use 4 B1s. I was at a Tony Sarno rehearsal about a year ago. The drummer was using 2 B1s. When I was up on stage you could hear the kick drum through the B1s but the sound didn't carry off the stage. In the "house" the kick wasn't audible. So how much do you think you need to spend to do a proper set up for a drummer? L1 double B1 $2300 Extended bass pak $1000 Kick mic $200 Snare mic $100 2 OH mics $400 Total $4000 Would you need a mini mixer or do you have enough inputs in the power stand? Also need mic stands and cables, maybe $200 more. Does this sound in the ballpark? Robert L |

Thanks Robert. I hope it helps.
I'm not so sure about that...the video surprised me in that my drum "in the room" was much louder and rounder of tone than it seems to me sitting behind the kit. The B1s (both 2 & 4) raised & filled out that tone in a good way I think. That said, I like the security of owning four B1s.
That would depend on the drummer, the style of music, and the venues he expects to play. For our band, I am very happy with my setup. BTW, I had missed the Tony Sarno post and replies, very interesting reading. |
