Steve-at-Bose and I had the great pleasure of meeting Dan DeMars of Vermont-based DeMars Guitars at a recent guitar show in Boston. A warm and caring gentleman, his designs are true works of musical instrument artistry! Dan recently shared his thoughts about the L1 with us and graciously granted me permission to share them with this community. Thanks Dan!
I’ve run out of adjectives…and wow’s. Not only does this system produce some of the most remarkable (hey, another adjective!) sound, but – as a product designer – I am awestruck with the simplicity and elegance with which this L1 system was designed. Clever features like the bracket to hold the ToneMatch module and the sliding fit of the tower components. I have my iPod playing through it right now – Steely Dan mixes have never sounded more transparent and detailed (two more adjectives!). I played both my guitar and bass through it this morning (alone and playing along with a couple tunes on the iPod) and they sound spectacular (one last adjective for ya!).
Hey, you might not get this back after NAMM! Seriously, let me think about the logic of keeping (and affording) this; let me know if there might be some special “friends of Bose” price (hope so). Hey, you can use my adjective-laden testimonial, but I’m sure it’s stuff you’ve already heard before from musicians who have already tried it. I will happily sing the praises of this L1 system to every musician I know.
Thanks again for everything.
Best regards,
