Just was wondering for those that run sound straight out of their laptops to the L1 or Compacts if you were using the onboard audio or external means. I was finally able after having the MOTU 828mk3 for so long to finally get into experimenting with the CueMix FX settings. The EQs and the limiter and compressor works pretty darn good for fattening the sound coming from the laptop. I can even run my Compacts directly from the 828mk3. Before I would use the audio engine built into my laptop's motherboard as I use Serato for most of my events. I think I will be taking the 828 along with me for all gigs now. Is anybody using a similar device with their laptops and what do you like about it?
Thanks for replying Scott. The 828mk3 is an external professional audio interface made the folks at MOTU (Mark of The Unicorn) check the website out when you get a chance. If you mainly use only your laptop for gigs this is like having a portable mixer,processor,multi-track,multi-input etc all in one and it makes your music sound very good if you set it up right. I like mines and will be using it for some smaller gigs where I provide music before the main event. No more splitter plug out the headphone port.
I use MBPro for Trax, however, I still had some hum noise, although MUCH less than when I used a PC laptop. I solved the issue by using a USB soundcard (IMIC) and haven't looked back! I usually setup using a Phonic Helix FW mixer, out to a channel on the L1M1. Love the setup and sound.
