Pete, I'll have plenty-o-space should you want to send something with me.
I plan to leave my Classic at home as it appears there will be an abundance. But even if I do bring it, I'll still have room. Let me know before you go. N |

Hi Guys and Gals,
I think we should have dual setups. I'm thinking that bands will want to get set up and checked sooner rather than last minute. And I'm also thinking that since we don't have a crew attendees (like I) probably don't want to be humping gear in down times when we could be jawboning, or just taking a breather. I'm going to suggest we have a 4 x L1 band setup in the Geneva Hall (with 4 x B1 rigs for bass and drums) and 3 x L1 systems in the Mountain View Room, all single bass. Does that make sense? Ken |

I agree with not carting Systems from place to place any more than necessary. However, I would suggest 2 B1's per, if we have 'em. (... which would be 10-12 for Geneva and 6 for M.V. ...) There are currently 15+ listed in the wiki. |

Hi Ken,
Do you foresee needing the two locations set-up during the daytime sessions or just for the music at night. We are still a relatively intimate group and I really like the idea of having us share the same space throughout (even if we are moving from space to space). I wouldn't like to see us have our collective attention split between "venues". I think it's fine to have two spaces ready to go. It may smooth the transitions. As I consider the activities, I wonder how often we will actually be switching from one facility to the other? Do we know how far apart the two places are? Edit: I just got off the phone. "less than the length of a football field" "a walk across the parking lot" |

I totally agree. I see us all together the whole time (it's always okay if someone needs to check out of course) and moving between the two spaces. I'm pretty sure that we'll only be using the Geneva at night for bass and drums music, but there may be one seminar in there during the day (Cliff and Mike Z's seminar on ensemble sound.) Does this help? Ken |

We'll still be transitioning instruments & "stuff" between the two places. I'd suggest personally as little moving as possible. It's nice to get adjusted to one room. I guess we'll just have to see what it's like when we get there. This may be one of those things that need adjustment like Big Sur did.

I'd like to think that in the down times, between formal presentations and performances in the Geneva Hall, that we would have the opportunity to talk/jam/play with fellow musicians and artists in the Mountain View room. I think having a few L1 systems set up there for usage would be very nice and facilitate "side discussions" on L1 & T1 use, etc. This is a great idea in my mind and I hope those bringing their L1s won't mind sharing them in this way.
I'm anticipating there will be so much to do and say in the short amount of time that we're all together, maybe the next conference will be even longer! The excitement is building here! I can barely go a day now without thinking several times about the conference and all I want to do, once I'm there... |

Just a thought. Are there any questions of security when we are not around the equipment in one area or the other?

Thanks Nathan, so I'll plan on bringing a second Model II then. I really like the idea of having a few systems we can leave here and there if need be and security allows. Ken's right, who wants to schlep when you can schmooze. |

Hey everyone, after reviewing some of the video clips and audio recordings of the Big Sur conference (Wow...what an alignment of the Moons that was...wished I'd been there for that one!) I was wondering if anyone is planning to record the performances at Little Switzerland? Not just with video audio, but something more formal like with ADAT machines, Protools on PC/Mac, a dedicated effort, etc. Kind of a formal "recording" of the performances, so to speak. I noticed in the Big Sur videos it appeared a local company may have been there recording all the performances. Those that attended can probably add more info here...
Anyway, just another thought, of many that is now floating through my mind~! It would be cool to have a quality recording of the performances, for later on in life! Does Bose Corp. have an A/V dept. with some folks that would want to do this? Could be an opportunity here to capture some sounds/video for future marketing needs...I'm thinking out loud now....I'll stop... |

I agree John. It would be a great souvenir for those of us attending. It would be a great tool to persuade others to come on over from the dark side.

Well, I'm out. I'm extremely disappointed, but I just can't make it. It's not a financial thing - just can't make the schedule work. Cuchara was so fun - I can only imagine how great this will be. Hopefully next time.

Well, John, could you send your dad, anyway?
Ah, man...dang it. Wish it could/would work for you. So very sorry you won't be there. Next time...next time. |

Looking forward, Rick |

Sorry John S., I was hoping you'd get to do some drumming at this one, I had a set all ready for you!
But as one door closes, another opens, all hail Rick! John Nell...Big Sur had two cameras, and the studio itself hung a stereo mic up. Nice sound eh? Kyle-at-Bose took the pictures, video tapes, and the studio audio and did all the editing, what a nice job he did. The more of these conferences I attend, the less I like to video them...it's a distraction from the moment. However, I am bringing my cam, you are welcome to hold it! |

Pete -
Exactly! That's why I would prefer to see some "formal" videography/audio capturing work going on at Lit'l Switzerland for everyone's enjoyment later. I was hoping the at-Bose guys would bring some of their A/V folks with them! I, like you, will probably be so engrossed in what is going on, that capturing "the moment" for later reference will end up being a hit-n-miss opportunity. That's OK though... I'll still catch a few things, if only by my still frames! I only mentioned this because the Big Sur videos I saw appeared to have some "formal" audio recording going on that was really NICE! Great "capture" by those that did it!!! |
