Cliff and I are going to be talking about this topic from 3-4 on Monday. We are narrowing the scope down to what we have done with our bands to get the full ensemble tone we want. Cliff's band, who will all be in attendance, have volunteered to sit in during our talk so we can do some live demos and walk-ups. There have been a lot of times on the forum where I wished we could just get everyone into a room to listen to an L1 band - and then dissect the sound - and now we can!
We will reference song arrangement, but not get into it much - thats far too broad of a topic for an hour, or even a day. We will start at the point where you know what you want your band to sound like, but can't quite get there. If you haven't already, please check out Cliff Goodwin's talk from the Ashland conference: http://toonz.ca/bose/wiki/index.php?title=Cliff_Goodwin This is the basis of what we will be discussing. It takes about 30 minutes to watch all of the videos. Its well worth it... See you there! Mike |

I especially like the "Building A Set" part. I think I have ,usually, instinctively done this, but It's good to hear it put into words.
