Here's the place where I'd like to get an idea of who would like to perform.

This is not a jam place. It's a place for established acts to request a slot for a showcase -- typically 20 minutes of material.

Right now, I've got the Cliff Henricksen Band.

Please sign up.

You know who you are...

Ken

I'm embarrassed to be the first one to ask, but I'll play if you'll have me.

There's a possibility, during the 10 hours of driving time with Tres, we can put a duo together, (provided I talk with him about it).

While mainly a vocalist, I can play rhythm guitar, bass guitar and would love to add in a nice lead guitar, piano, tenor sax, alto, flute, trumpet, trombone, drums, a few strings (ok we'll skip the flugel horn), etc, etc.

Seriously, I would be honored to get a small spot.

Me, too, but will also defer in the case of plenty of "new guys".

Tom, are you still square on guitar with me if need be?

How about a bassoon??? Eek Big Grin Eek Roll Eyes
Actually, this reminds me that I haven't had my bassoon out for a while ... maybe I need to 'dust it off' and see if I have any workable reeds.

Double reeds can be a pretty interesting addition to a jazz ensemble. First time I heard them in such a setting was when an Air Force jazz group played at our high school (that was back before Arizona had paved roads, I think Razz).

Just checking in on this.

"not a jam place. It's a place for established acts to request a slot for a showcase"

I normally play with other people, other people who will not be attending. Hence, I would not qualify as an established act.

I would like to bring forward an idea that: Someone wanting to form an impromptu ensemble to perform, would be welcome to do that as we did in Big Sur. We did this in some of the time slots between sessions at Big Sur.

A performer who wanted to work with others - would take responsibility for a time slot (say 20 minutes). S/he would have the liberty to put together a few songs with others who wanted to join him/her. For me, there is something joyful in contemplating this both as a prospective participant and as a listener.

While it would be nice to perform as professionally as possible for our audience (showcase), I hope that we are also sharing a piece of ourselves with our heretofore distance friends.

This is one of the things that made Big Sur magical. I'm totally for this!

ST, this is great I think. It's what I was hoping folks would talk about here...

Ensemble or Accompanist...

if they wanted to do a little preliminary work on putting something together.

I'm the same as you who "[plays] with other people...who will not be attending...I would not qualify as an established act."

I'm afraid the thread looked a little like I was just looking for myself, but I meant it for everyone.

However this all shakes out, I am so tickled to be going. Great fun lies ahead!

Right back at you Oldghm,

Wouldn't that be something!

I'm planning to be there on Saturday night. I'm sure there will be time to work out something.

Hey Pete... You in?

A clumsy band name but "HereToFore WayTooFar" pretty much describes it.

I'd say for the personnel in question, "Son(g)s of the Pioneers" would be fitting, yes?

Super deluxe. Of course. Sounds wonderful.

Sounds like Saturday will be perfect for working out tunes. What utter fun.

I'll do a piano and vocal number or two if you need folks to fill up the roster.

The idea of O, ST, drumr, and can't-tell-what-others in a band together has me hyperventilating...
