The recent video posts on the message board of Ken and Chris’ presentations at Little Switzerland have prompted me to write this short message, along with seeing the occasional post in different threads on the board by my friends I met at the LS conference. It’s been two or so months after the LS conference and I’m finding I have many fond memories of how wonderful it was and to have been able to spend time with everyone while there.
I truly feel “connected” to all of you that I met at the conference, even though many miles separate us physically today. When I see someone’s post on the message board I get a very warm feeling of “that’s my friend saying something….I must read what they have to say!” Do any of the rest of you feel this way? The message board has gone past the point of information exchange for me. I feel it is a vehicle (or whatever you might call it) that lets me have an emotional bond with my friends. I consider each and every one of you my friend! It’s hard for me to say in words how I feel about this whole thing. But I can tell you, whatever it is, it is a VERY GOOD feeling to feel “connected”. Who would have ever thought a message board could evoke so much emotion? Or, that a simple user’s conference (somewhere in North Carolina) could have meant so much to someone? I surely didn’t think so. But, I have grown to understand there are a bunch of really nice people in this world and I feel very fortunate to have crossed paths with ya’ll! I find myself spending way too much time “checking for new messages” on the board while at work! But I can’t help but wonder what my friends are saying or having a bit of trouble with when performing. This is truly a wonderful community of people and I feel so fortunate to be a part of it. Thanks for being there and have a GREAT rest of the summer! Long live “Little Switzerland” in mine and your memory banks... John |

Hey John,
I could not agree more. I've so much enjoyed every conference I've attended and feel that new friends were made each time. I love how Col. Andy always signs his posts with "Respect". That's exactly what I feel about every one I've met at these little Bose meetings. Thanks for putting the feelings into words. Rick |

Yep, I know what you mean, John. It really gets to you emotionally, doesn't it?
Now, when I see a name & avatar like say, *Roy*, I no longer see a dancing, naked, native, I now see the real Roy. It's so nice to be able to connect the name on the page to a face, a conversation, or a vivid memory. Now you know why it would be awfully hard to miss one of those conferences. |

Little Switzerland was a really magical gathering, & it's hard not to have great memories of each & every person there. Thanks for keeping the vibe alive, John. It's too easy to put things like this in the past, & sharing this forum means we get to remember every time we "read" each other.

Wow!! It was a definite memory keeper for me.
Talk about "Time flies when you are having fun". What a fantastic group of people. Tuesday at "The Acoustic Guitar Club" here in The Villages, we played "Stardust". I can't help but remember, what a flawless job Nathan did on singing that song, (with Tom backing so well). So smooth, so effortless. |

The most intresting thing for me ws my wife Martha. She looked at this whole thing as a good ole boys club and was just indulging me. She went to evry event and enjoyed talking to everyone there. It will be no problem getting her to the next one. As you know she starts off slow. She is my best friend and it made the conference even better for me to share it with her. I am trying to win the lottery so I can come hear everyone play. If I do L1's for everybody. Roy

Pam and I were looking at the group photo the other night and recalling each name and things they did or said (or sang) at LS. It certainly was an exceptional time of people and place coming together.
Rick, thanks for that. This is something that I have learned from many trips to Jamaica. There, pride and respect are very important to people who often have little else. Mutual respect goes a long way. Respect Andy |

While the tutorials have been great, there's still some of us out here in the cheap seats who would love to see and hear some of the musical magic y'all have spoken of....

Hi JD!
I hope someday you are able to partake in a nearby Bose conference. I realize and respect the fact, it's not always possible to drop things (like work) and attend one of these. LS was only my second. Some folks have been able to attend all of the conferences, so far. But I'm here to tell you, my all means if one gets organized near you, or you can make the next one wherever it ends up being, you should try and make it. It's a neat way to gain some knowledge about the L1 System and how to use it, plus you'll not regret taking the time when you meet everyone and play some music! John |

"Stardust" ........great tune. We have played in many times over the past 40 years. And Joel is correct there is a "huge" difference in a musician and an "entertainer". I have been in bands that the musicianship was studio quality and you could hear the people talking as if it was a radio on the stage. I have been in bands where I wished the guitar player would stop playing with his knuckles but he talked to the crowd and made them laugh and enjoy the evening. He "entertained". Nuff said

You folks were very much in my neck of the woods this time... but my life was not scooped into the right sized piles... so I've been out of the loop , and practicly off planet for 8 months.
I'm so glad the get-to-gether went well and I do so hope I'm in a better position to participate the next time you're within a 4 hour drive of me. Blessings all you wonderful talented people, and special thanks to Dan C for making the extra effort to pry me away. The thought was right, the time was wrong. cheers. |
