Chuck-at-Bose has offered to sing this one. It's in G.

I assume we'd have bass and drums. Chuck, any other instrumentation?

Any other soloists?

Chuck, can you point us to an online chart?

I'd be glad to throw in some piano and backing vocals on that one

If needed, I'm up for playing rhythm acoustic.

Hey John,

I read where you are a drummer too, and I enjoy listening as much as playing, so you are sure welcome to jump in anywhere. I'm a lefty and play a backward setup, but we can work that out.

Chuck,

Here's what I have for this song. Format it the way you like & I'll generate a Word document for it?

intro G C G C G C G

When I was a little boy, (when I was just a boy), and the devil'd call my name (when I was just a boy)
say now who do, (who), who do you think you're foolin'? (when I was just a boy)
I'm a consecrated boy (when I was just a boy), I'm a singer in a Sunday choir (oooh)
Oh , my mama loves me, she loves me
She get down on her knees and hug me, oh she loves me like a rock
She rocks me like the rock of ages she loves me
She love me, love me, love me, love me
G / C7 G / G C7 / G D / G Em C7 G / C F C G / G

When I was grown to be a man (grown to be a man), mmm and the devil would call my name (grown to be a man)
I'd say now who do, (who), Who do you think youre foolin'? (grown to be a man)
I'm a consummated man (grown to be a man), I can snatch a little purity (ooo)
My mama loves me, she loves me
She get down on her knees and hug me, oh she loves me like a rock
She rocks me like the rock of ages and loves me
She love me, love me, love me, love me
G / C7 G / G C7 / G D / G Em C7 G / C F C G / G

And if I was president (was the president), the minute congress call my name (was the president)
I'd say who do, (who), who do you think you're foolin'? (who do you think you're foolin')
I've got the presidential seal (was the president), I'm up on the presidential podium
My mama loves me, she loves me
She get down on her knees and hug me, oh she loves me like a rock
She rocks me like the rock of ages and loves me
She love me, love me, love me, love me (love me like a rock)
G / C7 G / G C7 / G D / G Em C7 G / C F C G / G
(love me like a rock) fade to end

I Drumr. I really appreciate that. I might try a song or two. Thanks much. Looking forward to it! Interestingly, my buddy used to play lefty and I sort of got used to playing that way a little. I would imagine you have more chops than me, but I can hold down a decent groove.

Hi all,

So sorry about the late response here. Tom, the chords/lyrics are exactly right. If folks are game, I'd love to do an arrangement of it that's based around a train groove (think Grateful Dead's Cumberland Blues). I'm thinking at least drums, bass and myself and another guitar, but more strings (guitars, mando, dobro, etc.) and even some keys would be great. If time permits, we could stretch it out, each taking a solo for a verse/chorus and then all come back in for the last verse. I'd also love to have lots of backing vox for the call/answer "who do"/"whooooooo", etc...

I recorded the arrangement (using the T1 as my sound card, BTW Wink) for a project that Steve, MikeZ and I are working on. It's just me playing/singing all the parts to a quick drum machine track that I made to get the idea across. Here it is, if you wanna have a listen. Excuse the less-than-exciting vocals. My newborn son was sleeping two rooms away at the time...

Can't wait to see y'all in CO!!!

That's cool, Chuck. You remind me of the high parts on Stephen Stills recently released (re-released?) Just Roll Tape. I could see that really well Monday night just like you're doing it.

Chuck,
Congratulations on the new member of the family.....now I know why it took you so long to post this.

I signed up to do piano and backing vocals on this one, expecting something more like the cover tune. Now I know what you meant by "Rolling Train Groove"

I'm still up for it if you'll have me.

It would be good to get a "gospel type" chorus to back this one. Any takers?
