Rick Jordan suggested this great tune.

From Rick:

quote:
Let's start in E for lower voices, modulate to G for medium range voices (also a good key for banjos, I'm told) and end in A with some good 4 part harmony or bluegrass tenor.

quote:
I think it would be cool to have 3 different singers, one for each verse, and they could harmonize on the chorus.

I think Larry (oldghm) would do a super job for sure. It would be nice to have a lady for a verse, and YOU on one.

All of the band members that sing could also join on the chorus. Also, there could be lots of instrumental breaks. I was thinking of kind of a "dirt band" feel.

I have an idea for an instrumental intro where I would start a litte chicken pickin groove and then add the instruments one at a time (left, right, etc.) so we could give the audience a really cool picture of the great, better-than-stereo soundstage the L1 offers. Then let the singing begin!

Larry,

Are you up for singing on this?

Tom

I'll post a Word file after we decide on this. Here's what I have:

VERSE 1: TOM
I wandered so aimless life filled with sin
I wouldn't let my dear savior in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord I saw the light.
E E / A E / E E / E B7 E

CHORUS
I saw the light I saw the light
No more darkness no more night
Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.
E E / A E / E E / E B7 E

VERSE 2: ?
Just like a blind man I wandered along
Worries and fears I claimed for my own
Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.
G G / C G / G G / G D G
CHORUS

VERSE 3: ?
I was a fool to wander and stray
Straight is the gate and narrow is the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the Lord I saw the light.
A A / D A / A A / A E A
CHORUS

Hi Tom,

do you have a sheet or a few measures to hear into this wonderful song?

I would like to sing these great verses, as they describes so well what happened to me and so many people I know.

I'd love to be in the band for this song in some way. Mando or guitar or hand percussion.

John

Hey wolfgang,

here's a clip of the great guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel, singing the song. It obviously means a great deal to him.

Oldghm,

Are you up for singing a verse on this? Maybe we can get Carin to sing a verse for the female voice.

Tom
