Howdy Partners,

As many of you know, Tom Munch has been working to find a suitable venue in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for a Fall users conference.

I am pleased to inform you that we have found such a place.

It is an absolutely beautiful area that is chock full of L1 players and other musicians (largely because of Tom).

We've identified a wonderful establishment that has a stage and room for us to conference.

For accomodations, there are rooms at the Cuchara Inn (where we'll hold the conference) and cabins at a dude ranch just up the road that are available to us at a fair price.

As usual, we'll have a blend of "Music / Tech Talk / Community". Some of the engineers here at Bose including Cliff, Bill, MikeZ and Chris have already started scheming on what they'd like to contribute. Tom plans to do a talk on guitar and voice tone. We're very receptive to other ideas for presentations from the community.

There's a Celtic music festival happening in the next town just before our conference, where our own Big Sur alumnus David Enke is playing a central role. Here's a link for more info on the festival. Some of those folks want to spill over into our conference (a good thing). Also, David's planning to have the festival be an all-L1 affair.

Soooo...

You should plan to be in Cuchara on Sunday afternoon. (Of course some of you may want to take advantage of the trip to spend extra days.) We'll have music on Sunday evening. Then, we'll conference on Monday day and evening (more music) and we're out on Tuesday. Loved ones are welcome to join us.

Tom will be posting more pictures to give you a sense of the place.

Many more details will be posted here over the coming days including how you can make your reservations.

In addition, our wonderful community member ST has offered to put the plans for the conference as they unfold (like a flower blooming) onto the wiki.

We will limit the number of attendees so that we can focus, and we do expect to sell out.

We'll do everything possible to make it easy on you to attend. We very much hope you make the time to join us.

With best regards,

Tom and Ken

Where we'll be meeting...The Timbers...a bar from days gone by where legendary Texas singer-songwriters like Jerry Jeff Walker & Michael Murphey used to play.

I just purchased my Bose system in January and have used it on a limited basis but am expecting I will be playing more gigs as time goes on. I know very little about live sound and would love to do some hands-on learning. Is this a conference that would be of use to me, or is it meant for more advanced users? Thanks!

Hi VinsGirl,

You absolutely would be welcome. I think you would learn a ton, and I think you would add just as much.

I had the pleasure of attending the East Coast conference and I just want to say, if you’re able to attend, DO. I learned a good deal about why my system works and how to make it work better for me… BUT… what I took away of value was more about concept, camaraderie creativity and renewal.

The return to the concept of “What I hear is what my audience hears” is key to making every performance more meaningful for folks on both sides of that stage.

The camaraderie of Bose users is amazing. We’ve researched new ways to perform, taken a risk with a fairly new technology, and share a common experience of a more intimate connection, both with our audience and with our art.

If having the stage mix match the house mix, and ditching the whole headache of B.O.H. control doesn’t free up some creativity, then I don’t know what will.

Renewal… man, I came away from my time in Ashland, with a whole new energy and excitement. “Real” sound, live, raw, and accessible. It’s a very refreshing thing.

Just my 2 cents worth… adjusted for inflation

Amen to all that Michael said!

I booked my flight last night and can hardly wait.
I would strongly encourage all who can to make the trip. You won't be sorry.

Cliff,

I have a Rigel mandolin with built-in under-saddle transducer. Any chance of you providing a custom ToneMatch preset at the conference? (he said with baited breath)

Hi VinsGirl,

This will be my 3rd Bose Conference, and every one thus far has been nothing short of incredible. I can honestly say I've never experienced as much talent, intellect, and humanity in one place.

Though I occasionally get paid for gigs, I am just an amateur musician. I learned so much at these gatherings, they have truly made me a better musician.

This is a real chance for you to surround yourself with greatness; please don't miss out.

By the way everyone, I'm in!!! Smile

Best Wishes,
Jeff

Hi dhcrow,

No missing link. The conference is expenses only for all of us.

I'd be delighted to meet you there and hope you decide to come.

John, rwj, holliwil: ALRIGHT!!!

(John, let me know the name of your dad and I'll put his name on the accepted list on the wiki.)

Michael: thank you; the feelings are completely mutual.

Ken

Garry (Calgary Bose Guy) posted yesterday on the AD board that's he's in too. We're filling up fast!

I still haven't heard back on the room rates. I'll check this morning.
