The Soul Searchers is a 3 piece band.
Originally a quartet, but after losing a member decided we liked the configuration of a trio. Playing Sixties (British Invasion and American Blockade) Performing in school reunions, wedding receptions, and corporate/community/charity events for audiences of 50-1000 Show type: dances (halls, bars, and the street) Using the L1® System since September 2006 Geographic location: Neptune Beach, Florida Notes about The Soul Searchers Began playing together in 1964 when in high school. We, like so many others in the sixties, thought we were going to make it big. Disbanded in 1967. At least one of us did fairly well in music - Dru Lombar - with Grinderswitch and Dr. Hector and the Groove Injectors. Reunited in 2004 to play a class reunion event. Have been playing, though infrequently, since getting back together. We keep talking about doing other music, but we stick with the sixties. Here is a link to one of five videos from a 2006 performance - our first as a trio and using the L1s (two model I systems):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BviZrXoh9Hs Bose L1® equipment Two model II L1s each with two bass modules, each with a four-channel mixer. We started with two model Is, but upgraded this year. Drummer had an L1, but for the majority of our gigs, he sings through bass player's L1 and runs the kick drum through guitarist's L1. When doing a large outdoor gig, we add a conventional Bose PA configuration with 2-802s, 4-402s, and 4-303 subwoofers with Bose controllers, powered with Crown amps, with all drums mic'd. Comments about the L1® System The system is everything it is advertised to be: high-quality sound; easy to store, transport, and set up; covers the entire range of venues with no need for monitors. Web Site: The Soul Searchers The Players Anthony Martinich: six- and twelve-string guitars and vocals. Tim Ballentine: bass guitar and vocals. Fred Hawkes: drums and percussion and vocals. Hi asoulsearcher,
Thanks for using The Sketcher! Here is your Sketch and accompanying notes. (I added the kick drum microphone). -- click image to make changes to the live version -- Legend: L1® Model II Orange numbers are Systems and Inputs using those Systems. Blue filled numbers are Channel connections to/from the T1 ToneMatch™ audio engine. Green numbers are for general notes about the Sketch and connections to non-Bose gear.Quoting asoulsearcher from The Sketcher

ST - Thanks for posting our Sketch and (adding in the kick drum microphone). The setup really works well for us anywhere we peform - inside or outside - unless the venue is very large, which seldom is the case. To complete the package, I would like to add a ToneMatch for each L1, but the mixers provide all the flexibility we need. Anthony

Thanks for the compliment. I guess you heard the studio version from our site. I see from your site that you cover a wide range of periods and styles. We are pretty much stuck in the sixties. |

Ours is only one of many cool stories on Mike Dugo's www.60sgaragebands.com. Where are The Villages in Florida? I could not see your site as my browser redirected me to a Billy Joel search page. I will try again when not at work (corporate firewall). Thanks for the read. |

I have watched your videos on youtube and on your site. Very strong and tight sound. Good balance of vocals to instrumentation. Even though singing (lead or harmony) and playing all the guitar parts can be difficult, I like the control and flexibility the trio format gives us - especially with the L1s. I wish our drummer would give a digital kit a try for some gigs. Thanks for your comment about the band. This message has been edited. Last edited by: asoulsearcher, |
