    Ken,

    In the announcement you said
    quote:
In order to retain the intimacy and fellowship of the Big Sur meeting, the total number of attendees will be limited, so please register early to guarantee a spot. We are expecting to be sold out.

Is there a charge to attend?

While Big Sur seemed like a great experience for all who attended, I think that if you try to model this after that same "west coast" transcendental vibe, or expect it to be the same, you will be disappointed. It's like having your second child, and expecting it to be like your first. This one will have a life and a personality all its own, and I hope we all let it develop in its own way.

As for the conference... personally, I'm a gear junkie. I love hearing live music played as much as anyone, but quite frankly, I can go out any night of the week and hear some great live music. So I don't really care so much about being performed to. Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited about meeting some of the people on this forum, and hearing them play and learning what their music is all about. But what I look forward to most is the exchange of ideas, learning what other people are using with their L1's, and having the opportunity to try a bunch of new things. I'd love to see a few scheduled performances, but would be much more interested in small informal demonstrations or jams with the option of trying that new Womanizer pedal, or the Duncan Twin tube, or finally hearing that KMS105 firsthand. I'm also a knowledge junkie, so I would really look forward to lectures and stories from the minds that developed this system as well.

Rather than having scheduled events for the entire group all at the same time, it might be cool to have a three ring circus going on. Have a main performance/lecture room for events, but have a couple of smaller rooms set up elsewhere for trying new gear and talking to other people. That way, if Chris is giving his "bass" seminar (I hope) in the main room, people who already saw it out west could go into one of the other rooms to mingle or jam. Or if someone is performing, but I have an opportunity to sit with ST and a couple of acoustic guitars, I would at least have the option of deciding how I'd best like to spend the limited amount of time I have there.

    Just thinkin' out loud.

    Hi gittar-jonz

I agree, I'm sure the vibe will be a lot different. If only because last time we were in a big "hidden" barn, and it was one big shared space.

I'm not suggesting that we try to recreate Big Sur, but here are some of the ideas that came up early in the discussions. Many of these would interest me this time around.

Here are some ideas, and it would be terrific if you would add to the list or just comment on what is here:

    • B1s and Tone (the effect on tone, headroom, etc of adding additional B1's, whether via an additional PS1 or the PackLite)
    • Dual mono, and the frequency cancellation that can ensue
    • Equipping the band (for those folks who are doing the gear for everyone).
    • Guitar Tubes, Amps, Modellers
    • Improvements and wish list
    • Introducing new performers to the System.
    • Long term user perspectives
    • Making it work as a house system
    • Microphones (some of the different popular mic choices, like the KMS 105, the Audix OM5, and the Shure Beta 87A)
    • Mono vs stereo, especially for sequenced or prerecorded trackstracks (background for live performers)
    • Where is the market and how to reach them?
    • Where we first met - talking about the forum

Nothing here is cast in stone, it's just a place to start talking about talking.

I know it's very subjective because some people like rock music extremely loud. But, even if I can't make it I would like to see a full Hard Rock band set up using only bose L1's and show what can be done for a Rock Band.

Many poeple think the L1 is only usefull for acoustic act or very mellow music that doesn't require any hard rock authority. I use it for my Rock band and I feel that simply a lot of people have not heard it set up for a Rock Band and assume that it can only do the light stuff.

The best way to enjoy this event is to keep the expectations low & let it wash over you. That's how the Supernova happened in Big Sur.

    Ken;

Has a decision been made yet on when the Taylor guys will be presenting? My guitarists wants to come just to see them, but he can't stay for the 31st (kids and Halloween).

    Thanks....

Have we got two areas going on this site for the east coast gathering? I think it's under the 'Owners' forum too.

Looking forward to it! I had to miss Big Sur but I'm glad I'll make this one. I can't wait to meet ST, Oldghm, Captbanjo and all the people who made the bluegrass thread so interesting.

Hey Rich, you already know me...Wayne Morrison (used to have a Stelling) and we've known each other through bluegrass festivals and jams for years. But given our abilities, if I'm a captain you must be General Banjo.

This is an RSVP concerning the Fall conference. I regret to have to say that I will not be able to make to the Fall conference. I am too tied up here in Idaho to be able to make it out to Mass., especially on such short notice. However, this is something I would very much be interested in for the furure.
I am an acoustic guitar solo instrumentalist. I also sing a bit as well. And I have ideas on how to get the most out of this system that I would not mind sharing. I use both channels 1 and 2 for my guitar. For this, I use various guitar preamps and stereo output effects pedals and/or processors to get the best sound and volume. I also use channels 3 and 4 for my voice by using preamps and reverb pedals. If you want to know a bit more about who I am, check out my website at acousticreflections.net .
    Until then,
    Scott Balsai

A thought: for those of you arriving Saturday (as I will be) ...

Would y'all be interested in a "worship in song" time on Sunday late morning? When I asked the Warren Center, they didn't have any events particularly scheduled Sunday morning. (There is one other group besides Bose in on Sunday.)

My thinking is not so much a "church service", but just a time of singing and playing some songs ... I have a couple of "chord chart" books I could bring, and I can play and 'lead' (since I know all the songs! LOL!!). Mostly somewhat easy "sing-a-long" contemporary Christian songs.

We could probably use the piano in the lobby, unless the logistics are such that the site-folks would rather have this possible "gathering" in another room (in which case we'd need to have a keyboard as well as an L1 whereever that might be). Of course, any "local commuters" would be welcome to join, too!

Since I'm returning home via 'public transportation', I won't be bringing too much other musical "stuff" ... just maybe a headset mic, Porchboard, my fingers, and voice.

This is, by the way, something I'd do anyway, just because I enjoy the music ... even if no one else is around to listen or join in -- although I *do* like making "joyful noises" with others, too!
