Anybody flying into BOS during the day Sunday, 29?

If my buddy declines to go/drive - I may just grab a cheap Jetblue flight JFK-BOS and figure it out from there. Does the Inn have any type of shuttle service from Boston airport?

If not, maybe share a rental car with somebody from Boston airport to the Inn if interested and the schedule can match-up?

I was trying not to take-off a matinee $how that day but if something "BIG" is going down at 6pm as brother Ken mentioned, I'll probably have to suck-up the lo$$... Otherwise I wouldn't be able to leave NYC until about 5:30pm putting me in Ashland sometime after 10pm.

Anybody have some cheese for my whine?

Jeff Incutto, Operations Manager at the Warren Center, gave me the following response when I asked about transportation from either Boston or Providence airports:

"The Logan Express is probably your best bet to get transporation from Logan Airport to the Warren Center. Providence is a little further away so it would be more expensive. Logan Express' phone # is 508-872-5424. Or you could call Boston Coach 888-735-5038, ask for Tonny Gichohi (617-394-3742)."

Hey Alan - thanks for that info. The server isn't responding right now but I'll check it out further tomorrow.

Are you flying into BOS, using a shuttle or ???

cheers

We haven't figured out our travel plans yet. I'd prefer to give my business to Southwest, which means flying into Providence.

There was some carpooling when folks arrived in California for the Big Sur event. I wouldn't be surprised to find ST creating a page in the wiki of everyone's arrival date, time, airport and gate number. Wink

If you're making plans getting in and out of Providence is WAY easier than Logan, but sometimes Logan has better flight choices.

I try to avoid Logan as much as possible but of the 6 or 7 trips I've made this year every one has been out of Logan due to better flight options and sometimes cost.

Hope that helps,
Steve

Hi all,

Most of my flights are out of Logan, for the very reasons that Steve mentioned. I always use the Logan Express shuttle. They generally run right on schedule (weekdays every 30 min, weekends every hour) and almost always know the best route around the big dig hassles...

It's a quick (10-15 min) cab ride from the Logan Express terminal in Framingham to the Warren Center. Tell the driver when you get on at Logan that you'd like a cab and it'll be there when you get to the terminal in Framingham...

'Hope this helps...

This is exactly the stuff I was looking for while I solve my puzzle. Jetblue has $50 one way fares from JFK-BOS so that's why I'm kinda stuck on Logan if I fly. Still waiting on word from my classical buddy - would rather drive to bring a few more goodies. I wanna show Steve my WMZ/TwinTube/Zoom pedalboard if possible?

Alan - I suggest you check Jetblue too from either Long Beach, Burbank or Ontario. No LAX service but comfy planes and usually reasonable prices.

Again, this helps a lot and I'm sure other folks will start pooling our shedules together when things draw a little closer - maybe share a ride here & there?

cheers

Thanks, Joe, I'll check them out. Another friend who tours a lot was also raving about JetBlue. And Burbank is definitely the convenient airport for me.

Yeah, Jetblue is a great airline for musos if you don't need service to the midwest. I've flown about 20 east-west r/t's so far this year and they've been excellent. They've even given me a direct corporate contact in the event of any service issues. Burbank has about 4-JFK per day and Ontario 1, but dunno BOS schedules as well?

Rental cars are actually pretty cheap ($30/day)outta BOS so when you or other folks finalize plans, it may be worth trying to hook something like that up?

My plans are still scattered but talked to Warren Center today and reserved a room. Woohoo!

Here's my only concern about JetBlue vs Southwest:

With the way the whole air traffic control system is tied together, I have this idea that travel via JFK and BOS is far more vulnerable to delays anywhere else in the country than travel via Phoenix and Providence. The thought of connecting through JFK just seems like its inviting problems. Is this wrong (or overly cautious)?

I'd just hate to miss the Sunday night get-together.

You and me both on the Sun night shindig.

Sun eve is often a delay out of JFK (due to international departures) but that's usually factored into flight plans and more of an evening problem for ALL airlines. JetBlue is a large $$$ presence (hub) at JFK too. But, a direct is always better than changing planes.

As long as headwind is cooperative my east-west flights almost always seem to arrive on time even though we sit waiting take-off often for 30-60 minutes. Remember, I'm talking 6-7pm Sun evenings. Earlier in the day, I wouldn't expect much, if any delay from JFK-BOS on Jetblue or other airlines with decent weather. I know they gotta bunch of flights daily and priced plenty good too!

My buddy just let me know he's not able to re-schedule some things and make this so I guess I'll do a Commando run...

NOTE - I already reserved a double bed at the Inn so if anybody wants it, I'll probably change that to a cabin bed in the next few weeks. Lemme know if they fill-up and if somebody could use that reservation and we can transfer it with the reservation desk?

Now, I just gotta decide either fly-in or rent a car and bring a few more goodies? Depending on ground transportation in/out of BOS flying could very well cost much less money/time...

Everyone,

I'd be happy to make a run into Logan on Sunday afternoon.

Why? Have you nothing better to do with your Sunday than deal with Logan? Razz

Actually, that'd be way cool to meet up with you there. Joe has me likely talked into JetBlue, which would mean MA and I would be arriving on flight #1012 from JFK at 5:35. (Might be too late in the day for you.)

Seems pointless to rent a car if we're going to be staying in one place till Tuesday...

Hi Alan,

Yeah, that's going to be too late. I've got to be in Ashland to get my slide show set up.

As an option, a taxi will be about $75. If you decide come in by about 4PM, I can pick you and anyone else up.

I have added the singer in my band, who has some cool mics he will bring to check out, and will have plenty of questions. I've already booked a double room at the Inn for Sun-Mon, so I hope this is cool.
