I'm looking for 1 L1 top section and 1 B1 Bass unit to complete my PAS. These 2 items were stolen from me and I need to replace them, but can't afford new(Guess I should have had renter's insurance?) If you have one or both to sell, email me with price incl shipping.
musik45ataoldotcom Thanks

Hi Chuck,

We aren't supposed to allow buying and selling gear on this message board as part of our policy.

Have you tried called Bose Service?

Ken:
Not to be confrontational, but I see people posting units for sale on here all the time and this is the first mention of a "no buying/selling" policy. Is this new or has it just been laxly enforced up until now?

Chuck:
Now that truly sucks. The B1 I might understand (although theft I really don't understand at all), but what is someone suppose to do with half an L1? Animals...

Hi Mark,

You are absolutely right. We have been lax in enforcing this material (it's always been in the "Terms of Use" material of the Message Board).

I want to make the changeover to better enforcement without being too abrupt because I don't think that's necessary.

I'm sorry if this has caused any inconvenience to you.

Ken,

I totally understand the reason for the business rule, so no need to apologize. Bose IS a business and it's purpose is to sell new units (and support those with incredible customer service).

I guess I just found it odd that I'd never seen it before, and most of the previous posts had been people selling units - direct competition with Bose. In this case, Chuck kinda seemed in a unfortunate situation, so I found the choice of using this post as an example a little off.

Now someone selling multiple L1s with extended B1s on the cheap, yeah, that seems like a time to enforce. Just a thought...

Hi Ken -
Well, here's the thing...I called Bose Service.
Spoke to a Chris. He informed me that Bose would "accomodate me" even though I don't have a copy of the police report. (I did have to give him the serial number on the PS1)The "accomodation" would be to sell me BOTH sections only for $599.
They would not sell me just the one upper section that I need because he said that Bose will only sell them in packages of 2(upper & lower). Why in God's name won't Bose sell just the upper section? If this is customer service,
thanks for nothing. I'll just keep watching for one section on Ebay and will have to order the B1 from Bose.
PS: Your product is absolutely awesome. I have personally recommended it to every performing musician that I talk to, and have been directly responsible for at least half a dozen sales for you guys. I am a working solo musician in the Tampa area, working 5-6 nights a week, so Bose gets a great deal of exposure from me.

Hey Skilly,

It wasn't any specific post that caused me to want to enforce better, nor any worry about competition. Frankly, eBay makes anything I can control infinitessimal.

It's a general desire to see this message board stay focused on using the L1™ system and not "grow another arm".

Thanks very much for your understanding.

Ken

Chuck,

I can't imagine that the thief will find much use or even a market for one half of the L1. People like the thief are usually very good at moving seemingly useless items at their local Pawn Broker. I would make sure the local police had a picture of the L1 top in their file and I would also frequent the local Pawn Shops with same picture, you never know.

A few years back I had a young man walk into my shop wanting to pawn an EV monitor that was stolen from me with my SS# ingraved on the handle.

I hope it turns up, and I hope the thief gets caught. I won't say what I think of a thief except that, one who would take from another, what that person got with honest labor does not deserve a place in our society.

It's a shame that Bose won't let the forum members place posts about Bose equipment for sale/wanted in this forum. 7 out of the last 10 topics in this section were for equipment sales.
This seems like a vital part of the "owners network".
I purchased some L1 bags from owners who no longer had a use for them. Yes, they could sell them on ebay, but why not let the forum members have first chance? Since this forum has become a "community" there is a greater since of trust and security dealing with forum members rather than an unknown on ebay.

I can see the point in not wanting this forum to turn into a swap meet. Since we are all online, it's easy to open an eBay account and create a "favorite search" for whatever you need or want to sell. Buyers and sellers are much better protected in that atmosphere.

eBay also exposes Bose products to the world, not just this little village of ours. It's smart marketing as well as a way of keeping this forum focused on the technology of the L1.

I agree with not wanting FS posts here on this forum, but I think maybe we could have a prominent link posted to a place we could sell & trade other than ebay. I personally would rather buy from forum members. Anyone have any ideas for a good site?
