Big Grin

I asked my wife to be my manager / agent and my daughter to be my roadie.

After a few calculations, we decided to keep our day jobs...

Cheers,

Just performed this for the first time today. Great song! I didn't do any of the little vignettes in it yet. Wink

Well, I couldn't get the Pat Donohue version to come up on YouTube (been having trouble) so the version I was heard was this one where the guy throws in little vignettes in between different lines.

I was thinking of playing it for my wife...then I thought, perhaps not...it hits a little too close to home right now! Eek Big Grin

I've heard this song long ago and I listened to both versions. Pat's is the original, of course but I really enjoyed the inside jokes of Tom's guy. I wonder how funny this is to non-musicians? Way funny to us!

Which all reminds me of a workshop I took years ago with Pete Wernick, AKA Dr. Banjo who lives down Tom's way. Pete played with a fairly successful bluegrass band (the term 'successful' is always relative when discussing bluegrass) called Hot Rize. A friend of mine asked him, "What can I do with my banjo that will help me make it in the music business?" and Pete said, "Sell it and buy an electric guitar."

Wayne,

I've been playing it out for the last couple weeks. It gets a really good reaction from non-musicians, although I think they miss a couple of the jokes. The song doesn't really fit my situation as a musician as much as some of my friends though, so the audience sometimes pities me for things I haven't had to endure.
