The while on vacation in Asbury Park, NJ I went to Chico’s Jazz and Blues club VIP party. Chico is a long time friend that just opened a new club in Asbury Park. While there I also met another long time friend Todd Wilson. Todd is also the engineer at Chico’s club.

Since he knew that I played guitar he came over to me before the show began to show me The L1 Cylindrical Radiator™ loudspeaker system that Bose had created. Once the show began (“The Bob Baldwin Project”) I begin to understand what he’s talking about. During Marcos Ariel’s keyboard solo on the Kurtzweil Marcos during the show asked Todd to turn off the other stage monitors and just come through the Bose System. It sounded great!

After that Dave Samuels was coming through the system playing an electronic xylophone sounding like steel drums…awesome. Eek The next day I called Todd and left a message asking for the price of the system.

Todd called me back and came the my sisters house and set up the L1 Cylindrical Radiator™ loudspeaker system so I could play my guitar and effects through it. That’s all it took for me to know that it was the sound that I needed. Big Grin Only one problem. Could it fit in my 1988 Pontiac Fiero?

The Base turned to the side fitted in the rear compartment near the engine. The two cylinders fitted with no problem in the passenger section with the sub-bass. That was everything? I thought. Now I can sell my good sounding Hartke 4x10 cabinet and Amp. I could not fit it in the car anyway when I did have a gig.

Needless to say I’ll be getting one is very soon.

Peace and Blessings,

Akil Hashim

Akil Hashim,

Interesting to hear you mention Todd at Chico's in Asbury Park. I actually spoke with Todd a few times while he was considering the Bose System, I can remember how excited he was. Since then I have talked with 2 or 3 more customers, including yourself, who have seen the system at Todd's club and have fallen in love with it! It seems like such a tight-knit community out there. Small world!! It's a great feeling of satisfaction to hear about one customer I helped turning into that same customer helping others...

Good luck,

Mike

Anyone in the Boston area renting the L1? I don't perform enough to justify purchasing one yet, but need a good and simple setup for a small show this spring (2005). This show will be in a tai chi studio - so no fear of beer bottles being thrown at your PA system. Please e-mail me - clavancher at hotmail dot com - if you or anyone you know has a system available.

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris - I'm not too far from the Boston area. If you can tell me the date (my spring weekends are booking up) and your needs (voice & guitar?), I would be happy to try and accomodate you.

This is Bose country up here, so I'm sure we'll get you hooked up one way or another.

What bands in Boston are now using the L1™? I have an acquaintance who'd like to hear 'em live.

I'm not sure which bands in Boston are using them, but there's an Irish band that uses them at the new Twin River complex in Lincoln, RI. The venue is an Irish pub, and it seats 200+ people... those L1s fill the space well.

I am a drummer looking to start / join a band using BOSE L1s. In MASS or RI area. Currently using Roland v-drums w/ Superior 2 VSTi acoustic drum samples and BOSE L1 w/ B1s. I play acoustic folk / traditional / acoustic rock - 60s, 70s, type popular music. Neil Young is my favorite. If there is any like-minded singer guitar, bass or keyboard players that are using the L1 approach (or are interested in doing so) I would like to speak with you.... Thank you, Dan
