I tried running it through the VL but I found I lost to little control over the guitar… it changes when you change the preset for the Voice it self… I prefer to run them separate

I'm with Noel... You lose a lot of guitar control going thru the VL... plus, the Aura should be the last in the chain before going into the L1... just gives a better sound... hope that helps...

Thats what I would do... That way you can change them when you want too, not when VL wants too.

I want to keep the options open for reverb, flanger, and the like; just in case

I would go the outboard route, but you may find that you like it fine 'au natural'...
