Hi,
I'm looking for some assistance in getting the most out of my band's two L1 systems. We currently run three vocalists to the Model II through a T1. Nothing else is connected to that system. We run the bass guitar, kick drum and snare drum to the Model I. We need to add one more vocalist and have no more available channels on the T1s. Should I use one of the available channels on the Model I as shown here (with the R1 to control volume), or is there a better way to accomplish what we need to do?
Thanks,
Bean

Hi beandipchef,

"Should I use one of the available channels on the Model I as shown here (with the R1 to control volume), "

Yes - I would run that vocal into the Power Stand Channel 1 or 2 so you can use a vocal microphone preset.

Interesting name "beandipchef".

Please tell us more about your music:

  • What kind(s) of music you play?
  • Where you do it (size, type of venue)?
  • Who is there (audience) - how many, what are they doing while you are performing?
  • Do you have a web site?
  • If no web site, could you post a picture of your ensemble?

Thank you.

Thanks for the advice and updated sketch.

In answer to your questions, we play rock and roll from the 50's, 60's and 70's with a few songs from more recent eras thrown in. We are a group of 50 somethings that have been together a little over a year as a band and have a total of five gigs under our belts. Two of these were outdoors at a pool and and lake, respectively, and three were at a local polish hall that has sort of adopted us as their band. These have all been around 100 people. We don't have a web site yet and I'll work on getting a picture. We get together every week or so for the fun of making music. Playing out once in while is just a bonus.

Beandipchef is a nickname I got because bean dip is the only thing I know how to cook, but I have about 50 variations.

I did have a follow-up question, is there anything tricky about using both a T1 and the R1 at the same time on the Model I?

Bean

Hi Beandipchef,

Great name. Thanks for the lowdown on the band. Nice to get to know you better.

"I did have a follow-up question, is there anything tricky about using both a T1 and the R1 at the same time on the Model I? "

Nothing tricky here except that the R1 Remote Master Volume controls the volume for Model I Power Stand (including the T1® attached to it).

You will probably want to leave the R1 Remote Master Volume set at 12:00 o'clock (straight up).

Connect the vocalist to Channel 1 and use the R1 Remote Channel 1 Level Control to manage his/her volume independently from whatever is going into the T1®.

If you are not already doing it, run the T1® into Power Stand Channel 3 or 4 with the Level set to "3". More details here: T1® Power Stand input settings
