Hi Drumr,

Here is your Sketch from this morning.

Just headed out... will have to look later.

Orange numbers are Systems and Inputs using those Systems.
Blue filled numbers are Channel connections to/from the T1 ToneMatch™ audio engine.
Green numbers are for general notes about the Sketch and connections to non-Bose gear.

Here's how it went down...pretty close to scale.
It was cramped. Bassist insisted on own amp, wise decision, as the L1s were close to being drowned out.

Piano, guitar, bass...all way too loud, I had to use ear plugs, couldn't hear my self singing. Sucked.
But...the management at The Cafe loved the L1 gear, thought it sounded great (-er than typical PAs).
I talked to them about The Cubs, an all Bose outfit, they are going to book us.

At the end of the gig, the guitarist commented on the getting-used-to the L1 being behind, and said it's like being "on a CD". So he IS getting the picture. Problem was, his fender twin was just too much, but sounded *good*.

The fill-in guitarist for the Cafe gig sent me a picture of the little stage.
He also sent me some video clips, but they were pure distortion from the piano and guitar amps.
Sad but true.

We knew it at the time...a guy in the audience who plays drums in a band came up during a set and asked me to turn down the two of them, but I had to tell him, I was not in control of their stuff. I asked them to turn down during the sets and at every break, but it didn't take.

You can kind of read my expression that I was not enjoying this as much as I could have, had I not needed earplugs.

Sundown @ Bahan's, Saturday, March 14th.
Keyboard player's Line 6 amps are actually E-V 15/horn PA spkrs.
Using traditional PA system with floor monitor, and no 18" subs, so I'm using L1-MII w/6-B1s for kick & toms.
Will probably use the L1 for my vocal mic as long as I'm not too loud on stage for the guys.
I couldn't hear myself singing *at all* last night at rehearsal...and I was playing quietly with multi-rods.
The PA is uneven and noisy in the practice room (approx 12x12).

Still using a single L1 as planned. No kick mic.
Keepin' it simple.

PS

The steel player asked me, why no Trapket this time out.
I'd thought he didn't like them and told him so.
He said "_____, I loved 'em!"

Next time...back to 2-L1s and the TrapKAT.

Here's a pic from the Single L1 gig. The Model II makes for a very tight, clean stage.

In the video, the vocal volume was down just a bit, however, vocals were loud on stage.
I'm guessing the 4' raised stage caused some loss in level.
Also, the camera was off-to-the-left from this view, 5' high.
The B1s could have obscured the speakers at that height from spreading off in that direction.

Gig went off well!
Bass & kick through bassist's Model II worked out great.
Compact held it's own...having seen video clips, my vocal is down a bit from normal, but certainly passable.
The video cam was about 60' out and off to the guitarist's side of the stage which contributed to that.
The easy of load in and out was great.

Drumr,

From the pic provided above, you seem to be set up behind the L1. What did you use to monitor the instruments and vocalists?

The gig went fairly well, setup was on a flatbed with a backdrop.
We set up just like the sketcher, but without mic-ing the guitar.
They had trouble monitoring as you'd suspect on an 8' deep and very, very wide stage.
In hindsight we should have packed in closer, but time and chaos prevented.
The band sounded excellent out front in spite of lead singer having lost his voice earlier in the day.

They had mixed feelings about the L1s.
The keyboardist sounded great with bass keys sharing with kick drum, middle MII system.
High keys and organ/sax shared a Classic system.

The two guitarist/singers's shared Classic L1 has the XLR inputs blown out,
so they use a Behringer mini-mixer, vocals sounded, dull, tubby.
At the first (and only) break, I hooked up a T1 and things got a lot better.
Lead guitarist played great but his beam of death was pretty staggering.
But he aside, the band sounded smooth, even, and very much in the pocket...good players, great drummer.

Here's a pic, nice lights.

ST...thanks so much for all your sketcher help, it is such a big help when planning for the unknown.
I never play a new venue or do an L1 demo for a group without a few sketches to get my ducks in a row.
