Hi Reverend Jim,

Please tell us about the music, the audience, and the activities surround the performance.

(ps - I moved mixer "in" so that we wouldn't have to scale the image to see everything and make it fit in the forum).

Our music ranges from The Eagles, Journey, and disco, to Guns and Roses and Metallica...a little of everything. We play at small to medium sized clubs. I'm wondering what more do we need than what we already have, in terms of a Bose set up, to be able to handle an electronic drum kit or a miked acoustic drum kit, as well as possibly a direct bass guitar.

Todd, would you tell us more about your music. This is such a classic layout, I smile just looking at it wondering about your band. Things that would help as far as creating a stage layout just for you:

Types of music you play?
Where you play (types of venues)?
Kinds of events (concerts, bars, outdoors)?

Thanks.

A friend of mine is exploring possibilities within church to move to the L1. I would greatly appreciate
assistance with how each musician would be mixed. The board is a 20 channel Mackie. Based on budgeting a max of two L1's/2B1s.

All mic's are wirless and lapels except acoustic guitar vocalist.
Acoustic guitar would be direct into L1
Bongo's currently not mic'ed
Congregation seats near 200
Mixer, Computer, Dvd player located in sound room
Bass amp much smaller than picture.
8 mic's total(including 2 lapels)
1 Lapel for Pastor
1 Lapel for keyboard player#2

Thank you,
Todd Matherne

Quoting borderblasters from The Sketcher
quote:
We are a duo but we each play different instruments for different songs.

We both sing.

All acoustic instruments with pickups are currently going through an individual Boss EQ/Pre-amp before hitting the mixer. Might not be necessary with L1(?).

Musician #1: Primary instrument is acoustic guitar (Martin D28) with Baggs pickup, but also plays '56 Gretsch through a tube amp, and piano.

Musician #2: Primary instrument is acoustic mandolin using a bridge pickup for rhythm volume and a directional mic for lead volume (would consider other options). Musician plays acoustic guitar on some songs. The Les Paul in the sketch (orange 1) is a substitute representation for an solid body electric mandolin which would essentially have similar pickups if not similar tonal range, currently being played through a tube amp. There's a possibility of a solid body ocatve mandolin in the future for musician #2 as well...

This looks like a Jazz Quartet with one vocalist. Is that correct?

How large are your typical venues?

Edit:

Please post your answers in your discussion you started yesterday
Thanks!

What kinds of events do you play? I am trying to get a sense of what the audience is doing during your shows.

Do you ever mic the Drums?

With this little bit more information, I should be able to come up with a stage layout for you.

Hi Jazzebel,

Here is your latest sketch - I can see now that you were not finished when you save the previous one.

-- click image to make changes to the live version --

Please confirm the total number of performers in your ensemble and tell us a little bit about your music.

The answers to the earlier questions would also help.

Hi paxflyer,

It looks like you have four performers on the stage. The Bass uses a pickup, and each performer in the front row is using a mic for his/her instrument, and a mic for vocals. Is that correct?

Please tell us about your music and where you play (size of room, audience size, and what the audience is doing while you perform).

This will help me to understand how to approach setting your stage.

Thanks

I'm not quite understanding what is happening over on the right side of the stage. The red Line6 POD seems not be be connected to anything.

It looks like you may have been interrupted. To make changes to the stage layout, just click on the picture above. Make any changes you like and click the "Save Changes" button.

In the meantime, how many people are in your band? What kinds of music do you play?

Please tell us a bit about your music, where you play, and your audiences. In the meantime, I'll work up a fairly generic stage layout for you.

Hi marktec1,

This is a pretty generic stage set-up for a band with your instrumentation. Each player has his/her own L1™.
If you can tell us more about your band, (music, places, audiences) then we can tailor this for you.

Nice stage setup!

I'm having trouble getting to the internet right now so it may take a few hours to get back to you.

In the meantime can you tell us about
• your music (styles),
 • your band, (just confirm how many people and tell me what you mean with the three orange numbers near the front),
 • where you play (size)
 • your audiences (how big)
 • your shows - concerts, nightclubs, stadiums
Thanks!
