Hi sharpfive,

Here is just one of many ways you could set up your stage with the L1™ System.

I have spaced out the instruments a bit so you can see what is happening. I got the impression that you are usually playing smaller stages and probably not very loud.

Codes:

Blue ringed numbers are Channels on the Systems.

System 1: Trumpet, Sax and Kick Drum (Double B1 System)

System 2: Lead Vocald and Bass (Double B1 System)

  • Channel 1: Vocalist Microphone
  • Channel 2: Upright Bass with Pickup or could be mic'd

System 3: Electric Guitar (Single B1 System)

  • Channel 1: Electric Guitar

Please tell us more about your music, where you play (size, type of venue), about your audiences (size), and the kinds of events where you perform (concerts, nightclubs, private events...). If necessary, I can suggest something different with some more information.

Any questions?

hi, the band is a Top 40's cover band. Playing tunes as Barry manilow to Godsmack.

mainly play i little bars/nightclubs holding about 175 (+/- 50) people. audience can vary from 5 people to 150 people.

room sizes averaging 40x60 guessing not necessarly amplifiing to the entire area. mainly what would seem to be a dance floor for the band and possible beyond. so roughly 20 x 20 area.

i don't neccessarily need to mic the guitar but do so i don't have to be real loud.

thanx

Hi Giuseppe,

I won't be able to spend any quality time in front of the computer until about 8 hours from now.

I'll have to get back to you then.

Thanks.

EDIT:

Hi Giuseppe,

I have created a new discussion for this:

You would probably have a much nicer experience on stage if you setup like this:

And you run each performer directly into the L1™ closest to him/her.

We would like to get some feedback about our layout. we are a rock cover band in Phoenix playing classic and modern rock. Our back up singer who also plays the keyboards is having a hard time getting enough volume before feedback to hear herself. Any suggestions out there for her, or general suggestions in general? Here is a link to our layout.

Hi boston blackie,

Thanks for using The Sketcher!

This is just a quick note to send you a link to your Sketch in case you want to review it, edit it, or share it with others.

Thanks for the extensive notes. That really helped. I have added the Tuba, Clarinet and another microphone for the featured Sax/Clarinet

Quoting boston blackie from The Sketcher
quote:
blue note 1 is a tuba
blue note 2 is eitheracoustic soprano sax or clarinet
blue note 3 is a mike for the sax and/ or the trumpet/ vocalist when required for feature work
blue note 4 is a female blues vocalist, miked to the large amp/ speaker up front
the sax, trumpet, and trombone form the "front line" and are basically acoustic
the tuba is acoustic
the drums are acoustic
the banjo uses a pickup and also sings vocals to the large amp/ speaker up front
the keyboard uses own amp/ speaker to right rear and sings vocals with this amp
the stage is floor level and is diagonal in front from the lower left corner of the diagram to just below the keyboardist
this is a difficult setting in which to perform

I'm going to have to look at this for awhile before I can get back to you, but I will get back to you.

Question for you:
How big is a typical venue (size, audience number).
What is the audience doing during your performance (quietly enjoying the concert, dancing ???). I'm trying to get a sense of the ambient noise.

Besides the shape of the room (is this a permanent place for you?) is there anything else that makes this "a difficult setting in which to perform"

Is this the way you set your stage now? Do you have any questions?

Is anyone singing?

Do you ever have microphones on the Drums?

Have to plug into house PA, do I need any type of attenuator?

It looks like you are probably using all 4 channels. If so we need to be a know a bit more about what you are trying to accomplish by plugging into the House PA.

Since there is no output from the PS1 Powerstand that includes Channels 3 and 4, we need to talk about how to share those with the House. Channels 1 and 2 are relatively easy because there are Lines-Out for those.

So back to the question: Please tell us about your situation and what you need to send to the House PA.

Are you doing a concert where there will be more than several hundred people in the audience or ...?

Thanks

Hi ST
Yes I do, it's a non powered Behringer. I tried it out last night and it worked like a charm, went from the right channel into the PSA and left channel into the house system. Got lots of compliments on the quality of the sound 'crisp and clear". Thanks for the grest customer service

Quoting alex449 from The Sketcher

This is the proposed setup for our church worship band. Everything is on the stage except
instrument 1(electronic piano) and instrument 4(electronic drum set) which are both on the floor next to the stage. The stage is about 20 feet wide, 8-9 feet deep, and about 15 inches high. Item #6 is a baptistry that juts out about 3 feet into the rear-center of the stage and is about 6 feet wide.

1= Electronic piano
2= Bass guitar
3= Electronic keyboard
4= Electronic drum set
5= Acoustic-electric lead guitar and vocal mic(Worship Leader)
6= Baptistry
7= Mixer console in rear of auditorium

I am thinking of connecting instruments 1 & 2 to inputs 3 & 4 of the nearby PAS and instruments 3 & 4 to the inputs 3 & 4 of the other PAS. All the mics I plan on routing to the mixer and connecting the aux sends to the PAS's; the two stage-right vocal mics will connect to input 2 of the stage-right PAS and the two stage-left vocal mics will connect to input 2 of the stage-left PAS. The worship leader's guitar and vocal mic and the preacher's mic I plan on running to the mixer and back out the aux sends to input 1 of both PAS units.
Does this sound like a good way to connect everything? The room is twice as wide(~60-70 ft.) as it is deep(~30-35 ft.) with a high vaulted ceiling and seats a maximum of 225 to 250 people. Wil two L!/B1 PAS units be enough for this room? Will doubling up on the bass units be required for this size room?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Alex

lead guitar: uses multiple stomp boxes and would like to keep using his Kustom guitar combo

keyboards: maybe used along with a sequencer/laptop computer

vocals: uses 3 wireless shure beta 87s

acoustic guitar/vocals: uses a bbe acoustimax sonic maximizer, taylor 410ce and one wireless shure beta 87 for vocals

bass/vocals: uses peavey t-max head, 2x10 cab with horn, bass enhancer/limiter, eq pedal, wired beta 87C for vocals

drums: at the moment, no mics.

we currently own 3 L1/B1 and one L1/B2. because of the lack of umph on the boss system, i use the t-max crossover with the lows to itself and the highs to the L1/B2

any suggestions on how to best put this all together?

I'll be back to you tomorrow. Sooner if I can.

This is our current set-up for a worship band. Our sound leans towards, rock and gospel (no choir).

1) Bass/Vocals - We're using the peavey T-max amp crossover's low to itself and the high to the L1/B1. Stomp boxes include: enhancer/limiter, eq, and tuner connected to the T-max bass amp input. Vocal mic is a Beta 87C.

2) Acoustic Guitar/Vocals - Taylor 410ce through a BBE Acoustimax is connected to input 3. Vocal mics are both wireless beta 87s plugged into inputs 1 and 2.

3) Keyboards/Laptop/Vocals - Korg Karma, and laptop used as a sequencer are both connected to inputs 3 and 4. One vocal wireless beta 87 to input 1.

4) Lead Guitar/ Vocals - Les Paul/Strat goes through multiple stomp pedals then into a Kustom combo amp then the line out to input 2. One vocal wireless beta 87 to input 1.

Can anyone please suggest the best/optimum way of setting everything up (e.g. vocal grouping, best way of utilizing the proper inputs, etc)? we don't have drum mics at the moment but we do have 3 sennheiser e835s, an audix om 5 and an SM58.

We also have a mackie 1604vlz pro mixer, bbe sonic maximizer, midiverb 4, alesis compressor and a behringer ultracurve equalizer just in case someone can think about how to get our set better.

Hi again pidong,

Please tell us:
How big is the "room" in which you are performing? How many people are there?

Roughly how big is your stage area?

I'll be back to you with a few ideas, but they will be better informed ideas if you can tell me about your performance space (questions above).

EDIT:
