I do a "single" singing & playing guitar over pre-recorded tracks I've laid down to mini disk. How would the new Bose system work under these conditions?
Also, I read that the Bose system offers phantom power of 24 volts. The AKG hyper-cardiod condenser mic I use requires (I believe) 52 volts. Will the Bose system 24 volts provide enough juice to this mic to operate at full potential? Thanks, MaxBand1 |

The system would work very well for your situations. Put your prerecorded mix into channel one, your mic into channel two and from the remote you'll be able to control the mix between the two and the overall master volume. And, the coverage you'll get in the house will be terrific, front to back and side to side.
I believe the 24 volt phantom power will work fine. I'm really not sure, but I remember a similar conversation and I think the answer was "no problem." I have always used a 58 for vocals so I'm just not certain. I'll ask one of the other guys to comment. More to come. |

Hey Steve,
Thanks for the quick response. Outside the technical relm; if I purchased a Bose system with one bass module & one cylindrical radiator & found that lacking, could I purchase an additional bass bin to add on to the system? Yes. The powerstand will power up to two B1 bass modules. You can still add addtional bass modules via the bass-line-out and an external power amp.
For example: our drummer and bass player share one system (1 Cylindrical Radiator (tm) loudspeaker and 1 powerstand) with six bass modules. Thomas |

quote: Thanks for this topic. I also am interested in running a portable cd/md (1/8" mini plug output)player through the PAS during performance breaks, etc. I have read various posts re: connecting a cd/md player into a PAS using both channels 3 & 4 which I understand. However in Steve's post above he suggests running the md output into channel 1. Would that be accomplished with a mini (1/8") stereo cable that sums up the left & right md output connected to a mono 1/4" plug? I am unclear as to how both the L & R channels of the cd/md output will make it into the PAS if you don't use 2 channels. Thanks in advance for your clarification. Jab |

Jab,
Yes, you'll need a cable that "sums" the signal to go into channel 1. The only reason I suggested channel 1 was for the situation where the performer wants to control output of channel one and two on the fly. Channel 3 & 4 will work nicely as well since you can change the volume of 1 & 2 and use the Master volume to control the mix of 3 & 4 with channels 1 & 2. I'm making it confusing, but it is very simple, you've obviously understand it based on your post. Either way will work just fine. Sorry for the confusion. Steve |

Thanks Steve. Makes sense.
I haven't received my PAS yet (ordered on 2/04/04) so I've been working through the different possible configurations in my mind. Can't wait but have to patiently wait. Jab |
