Hi people .. I was mooching around in the local store today and saw (for the first time) one of these systems (it wasn't set up to hear).
I guess I must be a bit of dinosaur because even though I've read the blurb and browsed the forum I'm having a great deal of difficulty believing these things will replace my existing PA, currently 6x 15" drivers with horns and about 1kw of mixer amp. So my questions are simple, ARE they as good as they say and what would be the output of them. The leaflet says 100 -500 people, but 500 people can be pretty noisy and I don't play gentle, lilting music in the background while the audience sips champagne. I need 15 inputs minimum (14 for the keyboard stacks and a mic) so can I drive one of these set-ups from my gigging mixing desk.? Have to say if these things are as good as advertised then my days of lugging around ruddy great coffins full of speakers might hopefully be over. |

You won't know until you find out. Bose offers a trial period for you to experiment with and decide for yourself. I decided YES (in a big way) about five years ago. Wouldn't be without an L1 or a Compact system.

Hey DL,
Capt. is right, but I can also say that if you DO try the L1, and this is the ONLY true way to see if it suits your needs and style, I think you'll find a clarity and power that you will find very surprising, refreshing, and just a great sound. If you want a lot of killer bass, you can stack up a bunch of Bose B1 subs, with an additional PackLite amp for each two subs, or you might consider a powered JBL 18. Need more details about what you do, but it sounds like you might go with a pair of L1 Classics to be used like FOH speakers, with your existing mixer. Best luck, and give it a try! Mike |
