Are the outputs on channel 1 and 2 mono or stereo on a classic L1. I would like to take a feed from channel 2 xlr out to 1/8 jack to feed a signal into a Harmoniser Tc Helicon voicelive play

Hi Heppy,

The Model I (or Classic) Power Stand XLR outputs are balanced, mono outputs.

For anyone reading along - is this the device you are using?

Hi Heppy,

Is your XLR to ¼ inch jack adapter tip-ring-sleeve? If it is, AND your 1/4 to 1/8 adapter is also tip-ring-sleeve, then things may not work out particularly well.

Pictures coming.

Hi Heppy,

For your XLR connection you want something like this.

source: http://www.mediacollege.com/au...n/xlr-jack-mono.html

NOT LIKE THIS

The reason: The Classic Channel 1 XLR Line Out is balanced mono - not stereo. A connection like the one immediately above, run through 1/4 tip-ring-sleeve connector to a 1/8 tip-ring-sleeve connector will result in the tip and ring connections being out of phase with each other. This could give you very strange results.

Hi ST

I think I’m good to go.

The XLR to ¼” mono Jack that I have is the same as your first illustration and the adaptor I ordered is tip sleeve it should arrive tomorrow. The only other concern that I
have is that the signal will be too hot going into the TC-Helicon

Thanks ST as always excellent advice and illustrations much appreciated

Best regards
George.

Hey George,

Please let us know that TC Helicon VoiceLive Play unit works out for you.

I suppose that voice processing may be in my future. I'm still watching cautiously as my ears get used to what I'm hearing.

Hi Heppy,

Is there a reason that you don't want go through the Voice Live first, before going into Classic?

I'm just trying to visualize what it is you are trying to accomplish (I'm a user of TC Helicon Voice products too and always looking for new ideas!)

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom

I use backing tracks bass, drum, keys, and I play guitar. I tried getting the voicelive play to follow the key for harmonies taking its information from the ambient mics on the unit. but found in a live situation sometimes the harmonies sounded a little off depending on the backing track. I realise that I could input the key per song but find it bad enough tap dancing on lighting controller plus guitar peddle board to add another switch to step on . So thought if I could get a feed direct into the aux of the voicelive play it would take key information from there automatically.

Tracks go into ch 2 on L1 and vocals go into ch 1 on L1 via voicelive play this still allows me to utilise the Li presets. Guitar goes through M9 line6 Stompbox Modeler then into Crate GTX 65 amp

Hope this explains what I am tying to achieve (forgive me if I am rambling on a bit)
