I am trying to connect my mp3 player to the unit - I put a 1/8th stereo jack into the mp3 headphone output and the other end is a 1/4" stereo jack into channel 3 or 4. The music heard through the L1 keeps stopping and starting - what am I doing wrong?
Does the L1® work properly when you run without the mp3 player attached? Check your B1 cables and make sure that both ends are connected and that there is a click when you turn the connectors.
Although unrelated to the stopping/starting, the connection you described will probably give you just one channel, not both.
yes the unit works just fine and so does the mp3 player - someone told me that I need a stereo jack for the output of the mp3 but only a 1/4" mono going into the Bose L1. I will try that and let you know what happens.
The 1/4" inputs on the Classic are unbalanced, so can only handle mono 1/4". As the graphic that ST posted shows, you need a Y-cable to split the signal into two mono signals and run that to two inputs on the Classic.
Connecting a TRS (stereo) plug into a TS jack will result in a short circuit on one of the output channels of the mp3 device; this is not recommended.
