I have a L1 Model II single bass package with ToneMatch but I'm just about to buy a second Bass Module and also a Compact.

The Compact is partly for use at home and partly for smaller gigs like Care Homes etc.

But another use has risen in my mind (as if I needed any more justication! Smile) and I wondered what perils/advantages I might encounter if I were to use it as a Stage Monitor.

I play keyboard (a Yamaha Tyros3) as a 'Pit Band' for a lot of pantomimes in the winter (raucous musical comedies very popular just after Christmas in England and a centuries old tradition).

I use the L1 Model II for the main audience amplification. I play at the base of the stage, just as in an orchestra pit, facing the stage and the Bose is out to my side, hard up against the stage facing the audience. Last season some of the casts in some of the productions complained that they couldn't hear the music well, just the usual bass thud if you're directly behind the Bose (or any speaker, of course) especially when it's a high stage. Last season I used the two tweeters of my home system (Yamaha TRS-MS02's, little more than the system you'd use attached to a PC) but these had several disadvantages although one huge advantage that they were small and could be concealed behind the footlights skirting board.

I wonder what the practicalities of using one Compact might be instead? It'd be fed from the keyboard like the main system and maybe in the collapsed position it could be hidden well enough. Even the biggest cast is usually maximum 30 or so.

This is complicated by two microphones suspended from above the centre stage, one in the middle and one at the back, which amplify the chorus and were a definite success. They are fed into the ToneMatch - you have to be careful to keep it muted when the curtains are closed! Red Face

What do you think?

Freddie

PS As an encouragement to entice a reply, I attach a drawing to help explain the layout
