Faint Pop/Thump Sound in Compact L1Go ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Has anyone ever heard a faint pop or thump when using the Compact? I've had it happen with three different Compacts from different year production and every combination of gear I've used - different mics, T1 or not, different guitars and preamps. It happens maybe once every three or four hours of playing and sounds like a very low level thump. It doesn't matter if I'm playing or the system is idle. It doesn't show a clip that I'm aware of on the Channel meter, and I'm not sure if it even shows signal if the system is idle because I've never been looking at the Compact when it happens as it's so infrequent. I'm not worried about it, but I wanted to see if anyone else has heard it.This message has been edited. Last edited by: Tom Munch,

Hi Tom, I have not experienced that with my Compacts, however, I probably use them much less often than you. It sounds like what the old school techs called "thermal runaway" , a condition I experienced in an old power amp. But in my experience once it started, it happened often, like every 30 seconds.

Hi Tom, My Compacts get run 4-8 hours a weeks most weeks. These days they live in my car unless they are on a stage. I don't think I've heard anything like what you are describing. Most of the time I use a PorchBoard so if the thump happened while I was playing, I might not notice.

Thermal runaway is like the sound I'm getting, but I'm not driving the Compact hard when it happens.
