What do you recommend for the positioning of two B1's with an L1 Model II. We use this setup for two performers;each playing Taylor Acoustics and each of us sing. So far we've been playing in small venues and have been positioning each of them at a 45 degree angle but I wanted to know if I placed them in the "cozy" little spots on each side of the base module if I would still obtain the full compliment of the sound projection. Thanks!

By the way, this system produces some really gorgeous sounds, we love it!

Loose17,

Welcome to the L1 Users Forum. In my experience when I use two B1 bass modules I like to stack them on their sides and nest them with the power stand. Low frequency information produced by the B1's does not require you to aim the B1's in a specific manner but it is a good idea to have the drivers facing forward. I am sure the Taylors sound great through the system.

If you would like to receive additional responses on this question from members of the community, I would be glad to move this discussion into the public area where non Bose folks can respond with their comments.

Please let me know if you would like me to do this?

Thanks Neil

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the response. If you don't mind moving this over to the public forum that would be great. Meanwhile I'll try your setup tonight at our gig and see how it goes. Thanks!

Neil (Loose17)

Hi Neil

We are a duo who both sing and who both play Taylor guitars. We've had the L1 Model 2 for almost 2 years now - originally we had 1 B1 but added a 2nd about a year ago.

We always stack our B1s 2-up on their sides and, although we have experimented with placing them alongside walls, we usually have them nested between the feet on one side of the power stand.

Hi Jimmy & Val,

Thanks for the info, I think I finally have a visual concept of what you're doing by stacking the two B1's on their sides, it didn't resonate with me in initially.

Do you use the ToneMatch with the Taylor presets for your guitars? if so, how do you like them? if not, what do you use for your guitar setup? Thanks!

Neil

Hi Neil

I've attached a pic of our stage setup (2 6-strings, 2 12 strings, and L1 in the middle).

The B1s are turned on their sides (and the Bose badge on the grille rotated through 90 degrees), then stacked on top of each other.

We do use the Taylor presets with some tweaking and will reply in greater detail... in the meantime you'll find info from other Taylor users in the dedicated Taylor guitars area at:

Tonematch® Presets & Downloads > Taylor Guitars - General Discussion Area.

Note to Moderators - we've added our ToneMatch settings info here as a reply to a question asked in this thread, but please feel free to move it to a different section if deemed more appropriate.

Hi Neil

We are now using Taylor ToneMatch presets for all our guitars - since first starting with the L1 system in January 2008 we have become much more comfortable with experimenting and tweaking. It doesn't always follow that the ToneMatch settings for a specific manufacturer will sound best to everyone using that particular make/model... so do experiment. (eg For a while when Val was using the 855 12-string (now used mainly by Jimmy) we used the Acoustic Guitars > Piezo w/dyn setting as it was the closest we could get to her acoustic sound.)

Val plays with fingernails and Jimmy with just his fingers - neither of us use any plectrums/picks.

Val's 6-string is a 910CE Indian Rosewood back and sides with Spruce top - Expression System version 2 (9 volt PP3 battery) connected to Val's T1 channel 2 with Balanced jack to XLR cable. We use Taylor Guitars > Grand Auditorium Finger with everything bypassed except Para eQ to tame a particular frquency range (Level -2.0, Freq 122, Width 0.6, Note B2).

Val's 12-string is a Custom Jumbo Cocobolo back and sides with spruce top - Expression System version 2 (9 volt PP3 battery) connected to Val's T1 channel 3 with Balanced jack to XLR cable. We use Taylor Guitars > Jumbo Strum with everything bypassed... worked beautifully 'straight out of the box' - no tweaking needed.

Jimmy's 6-string is a 910CE-L7 Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with Spruce top - Expression System version 2 (9 volt PP3 battery) connected to Jimmy's T1 channel 2 with Balanced jack to XLR cable. We use Taylor Guitars > Dreadnought Finger with everything bypassed except zEQ (Low -3.0 dB, Mid -0.6 dB, High 1.0dB) and Reverb (Mix 25%, Bright 40%).

Jimmy's 12-string is a 855 Indian Rosewood back and sides with spruce top - EMG under-saddle pickup system (9 volt PP3 battery) connected to Jimmy's T1 channel 3 with Unbalanced jack to jack instrument cable. We use Taylor Guitars > TGS Mahogany Cedar with everything bypassed except zEQ (Low Bypass, Mid -1.2 dB, High Bypass).

Hope this helps.
