Hi,
I play in a full rock band. 2 guitars, bass, drums, sampler, 4 vocals.
We are loud, especially our vocals. We often have 4 rock harmonies going, (Journey, def Lepard, Scorpions, Kid Rock) and our singer is a screamer. I am currently using a Bose L1 w/ 2 Bass modules as our mains. (see Sketcher..hopefully it works)
My Stage Layout in The Sketcher

I usually keep the guitars low in the mix since I really only use our PA for small/mid size rooms. So the main signals going through the L1 are the vocals, kick drum and sampler. I set the L1 remote Master at 12 oclock. Kick in Ch 1, remote input about 12 oclock w/ highs and mids rolled off. I set my mixer output to about 12 o'clock at its loudest, after that i get feedback usually. at those levels its loud. the sampler doesnt run all the time but when it does its usually playing a click drum track.
My question/worry is...am I pushing to much signal into the L1 that it could potentially blow/overload? Going into Ch 3 theres no way to know if Im peaking. I keep Ch 3's input "level" at around 12 o'clock. I am not clipping on the mixer LED's. not even close. in fact if its a quiet song the LED's are barely lighting. So im not clipping out the mixer.
I just wanna be "better safe than sorry"
Obviously w/o seeing/hearing it for yourself i know your suggestion would be speculative at best, but i figure the guys who built it could make a pretty educated guess.
thanx for your time

Hi Dan,

It sounds like you have a loud band from your description.
However, if a single L1 is proving enough for your vocals, then you probably aren't as loud as you think you are...and that is a good thing in my opinion.

Chances of blowing a speaker are nearly non-existent in an L1 (other than the B1 bass speakers).
I wouldn't worry too much about that.
If you get too loud, the built in compression should kick in and protect the speakers.

I don't live too far from you, and we get to St Louis on occasion.
Would really love to stop in and see your group at a gig sometime.
Do you have a website and schedule?
