I was there on Thursday (had the flu and very nearly didn't go).

Ended up sitting about 5 feet in front of Tony Sarno (I was in the front row). I was blown away without being blown away. If you ever get a chance to sit that close to a band running PASs you that bizarre statement will make sense.

Had a great chat with Tony and Wolf after the show.

Friday morning as soon as L&M (the store that sponsored the show) opened,
I picked up my PAS. (one bass module)

Since I'm under the weather, I took the rest of the day to get to know the unit. Good times.

Get my first chance to try it out live tonight.

Many many thanks to all the people at Bose who made the investment to travel to Canada.

I was somewhat taken aback that Bose would make so large an investment (you sent what - 10 people including the band?)

Tony, if you happen to see this, I'll send you the information about the McIntyre amp later today.

Wolfe, if you happen to see this, I'm the guy with the Musicman EVH and the PRSs.

I'll post more about how I intend to use it and some questions in the other forums.

Hi all, especially to those who came out to the shows in Toronto and Vancouver! On behalf of my colleagues at Bose Corporation and Long & McQuade Musical Instruments, we had a great time putting on these shows for the folks out there in Canada. The turnout for these shows were great!

I like the interaction I'm able to have on the road with working musicians who completely understand what this product offers: to improve live musical experiences for both musicians and their audiences.

I can't tell you how good it feels to be working on a product that would inspire an audience member to say that it was the best live show they've ever been to (Vancouver).

Thanks to everyone who turned out to check out the product at these shows! For the new Canadians on the message board- Welcome!

Here are some photos of the shows:

Show #1: Toronto's Hard Rock Cafe:

The crowd begins to take their seats:

It ended up being a full house that night, over 110 people.

The Linemen crank out the tunes:

Show #2: Vancouver's French Cultural Center was the location for the second show. Here's a picture of half the audience area. We had just opened the doors. The crowd begins to file in. Another full house that night with a great audience and questions. Many excited musicians came out.

Bruce McGrath of The Linemen belts out a killer soprano sax solo to the Meter's "Sissy Strut".

Hi all,

Just a note to say what a great time I had hearing the Linemen and seeing a complete compliment of PAS systems become transparent as the music began. Wow! Like being in the middle of a CD, Cliff! Amazing technology.

It was a real pleasure to met everybody and discuss using the PAS, etc. What a tremendous group of people. Sorry to have missed you Kyle, I looked, but Thai food was calling out to me.

Hey Tony - Sounds like you're on the trail of that McIntyre designed amp that we spoke about on the phone. Any luck yet? I have a couple of "leads" if you're interested. If you find one, be sure to let me know so I can come check it out...I'm dying to hear one.

Did I meet you in Vancouver? Anyway, about your observation of the "investment" our company made: yeah it was a big investment, not only cost of travel and paying everyone but having all our work put on hold for the week we were out (Shows in Toronto and LA along with Vancouver). Nevertheless, there is no other way to present this kind of information properly. If we simply presented the video and monologue portion of the show, it would undoubtedly trigger yet another of the seemingly-endless audio debates that go nowhere. I'm sure you know what I mean; the wacky psychoscience that pervades our industry. All this is totally grounded when you hear a really good band that knows how to use the system play as good as they possibly can, basically sitting in the audience's lap. This is the only way we know how to present a True Knowledge of what this stuff really is and what it is capable of delivering.

I have given countless AES papers in my life, only to have many of them end in raging debates that went nowhere and proved nothing. At all these "Platinum" shows we have done, I have rarely encountered someone wanting to have a theoretical debate over the system. Not after they were witness to The Real Thing. On the rare occasion someone does, "so, how did you think it sounded? Ever hear anything better?" totally stops it cold.

And so, that's why we did it this way. It's the only way. Thanks for coming out, your comments and your appreciation of our work.

I had the privilege of being part of the crew that came out to Toronto and beautiful Vancouver (nothing personal Toronto, but Vancouver has some stunning scenery). Both shows required much work (behind the scenes), but they were an absolute blast. It was great watching the reactions of all who attended, many of you were aware of the system, but had not yet experienced it. I spoke with a lot of great people, asking some great questions. We all agreed that each show was a tremendous success.
We hope that musicians & audiences throughout Canada enjoy the system as much as we do here in the states!
Smile

So when are The Linemen coming to Chicago? I'd love to bring my bandmates to hear a screaming horn band using the PAS.

We did meet, but only briefly. I thanked you for the great show, and for your part in changing the way we share music.

Hi gang

So I call the L & M Ottawa store to see about getting a B1 sent here from their Toronto store 'cause someone there told me 2 weeks ago that the Ottawa store wouldn't be physically having them in stock and guess what?? They have a few of them at the Ottawa store!!!

I'm going in there on Saturday to get that B1 to add to the L1 and then I think that I'll be happy. It's only a small GAS attack I'm having right now.

What a treat. I'll report on Monday on my L & M experience. I'm looking forward to seeing if they have one set up, how they're presenting it and what the customer reaction is.

Thanks from Ivan

Hi Ivan,

I was able to meet a bunch of the L&M guys at the Toronto & Vancouver shows, a bunch of great guys, very enthusiastic about this new approach to live sound. I remember speaking with a guy from the Ottawa store, they have several systems set up within different departments. Yeah, for most applications you'll find that the use of a B1 is essential in producing a wider range of frequencies, especially for guitar, vocals & keyboards...
Keep us posted of your experiences with your system. Smile

Hi Gang

Went in to L & M on Saturday morning first thing to get my B1 and as I was told, they had couple in stock.

Theirs is a small store, certainly compared to the Toronto store, and they had a PS1/L1 and a B1 on display in their small PA area right in the middle of the floor.... unplugged.

My sales guy said they've plugged it it a couple of times for curious clients and they seem to be impressed with it in the store but the sales are NIL. A couple of the staff confided that they don't know/haven't been trained on how to present the system or what it can do so it seems they're kinda gun shy and have no idea of the potential sitting in the middle of the floor (sure looks cool, though).

What a shame.

Thanks from Ivan

This stuff takes time. The shows we did in Toronto and Vancouver left those in the L&M stores simply vibrating with enthusiasm. And so those locations are totally dialed in. But, even if nobody knows about it at your local L&M (this is possible/expectable in the early days of any new product release, much less a major cultural change), plug in a POD and your guitar and the answer page comes up bigtime.

This isn't simply a new combo amp, and so training and mind-set for something so new will not be immediate. Have patience.
