Thaddeus Hogarth, on the electric guitar faculty at the Berklee College of Music, has just released a DVD titled Live at Bose II.
I was honored to be asked to write the liner notes for the release:
quote:
None of us were too surprised when Thaddeus Hogarth won the 2006 Independent Music Award for Best R&B Album with Live at Bose (2005, Higher Ground Records). Everyone I know who heard it thought it was a fabulous performance and recording. But I was unprepared for the reaction I’d have when the Berklee College of Music faculty member and recording artist first showed me a rough edit of what was to become Live at Bose II:The DVD.
I was instantly reminded of the thrill of watching two legendary concert films: D.A. Pennebaker’s Monterey Pop and Martin Scorcese’s Last Waltz. In these great films – and now in Live at Bose II – we’re not just watching a great artist: we feel like we’re participating in the music as it is being made. This is for me both exhilarating and rare.
So turn the lights down low…And your sound system up high. And settle in for a fantastic film of an outstanding contemporaryand original American artist deeply steeped in the canons of funk, R&B,and soul. Sincerely,
Kenneth Jacob Director of Advanced Development Bose Professional Systems Division
