I almost missed this!

This mic is not yet mentioned on any of the Bose.com pages I have looked at.

Any specs on this mic? Pricing?

Or, more importantly, which T1 Preset is a best fit for this mic? (speculation: the OM5?)

It seems to me that the point of the Compact is twofold. First, to provide more portability than even a Model II and second, to provide a lower price point for those who match a particular usage profile.

Drummers and bassists don't track with either of those criteria. A Model II with a Packlite and four B1s is essentially the same weight and is actually less bulky than a Compact with four B1s. It's just a whole lot more expensive.

The fly in the ointment to me is the DJ question. So many of those guys love their woofers....

I have no doubt that you CAN plug a Packlite and B1s into it without any dire consequences, but without a crossover the B1s will be trying to reproduce frequencies they weren't designed for.

As you noted the L1 Compact system is designed as a fully integrated system, we are not reccommending that customers attempt to add scalable bass.

The performance of the L1 Compact will be ideal for many applications. For those that require access to things like scalable bass or updateable presets they have alternate solutions with L1 model I and model II. We are excited that customers will be able to grow with Bose if their needs change.

The microphone kit will only be available at Bose direct channels starting sometime in the middle of May. It will likely appear online at that time. We wanted to give folks the ability to have a "one stop shop" purchasing experience.

L1 Compact Microphone Accessory Pack
Contents:
Audix OM3 microphone
Audix CBL-20 20' XLR cable
Stereo RCA cable
3.5mm Stereo mini cable

The Handheld Mic or Audix OM3 preset both work great.

To obtain pricing and availability please contact 800-444-2673.

Ken and all,

The new Compact looks excellent!

Brilliant design, attention and care for solo performers - extremely well done. Can't wait to see and hear it in person.

Congrats on a great looking product!

Best, Mike

I am very happy. See: Smile
This is ideal for most of the gigs I play. I still love my model II and will use it for the larger venues, but for intimate restaurants, sign me up for the L1c. I've been on this journey since the model 1 came out and it has changed my life (literally). I performed over 150 shows last year..before the L1 I was doing only a handful.

My back thanks you. I think I can get everything in two trips to the car with the L1c. Way to go, Bose. Nice price point, too.

Will these be available through the normal retail channels, and if so will there be in-store displays? I'd like to check one out.

As a Bose Pro dealer and L1 Product Specialist I can see a very large market opportunity opening up with the L1 Compact system.
If, as Cliff says, the performance of the Compact in other than the lowest frequencies are even remotely close to the Model II, then we have, at a minimum, doubled the market potential of the L1 family. The new price point goes a long way to get us there too.
This is good news indeed.
Thank you Ken and the rest of the team for developing a system that fills a very large niche in the music industry. Now, more than ever, the one L1 per musician concept can really take off.

Now the obviouse question for those down under. Will it be available in Australia as well? Did you make it with universal voltage?

Cheers

valvenerd,

The system does feature a switching power supply (universal). We expect that it will be available in Australia sometime in the fall. That is our best estimate as we speak..

Hi there !

I take it the extensions don't have any speakers in them ? You can either use both, one or neither ?

The L1 Compact User's Manual indicates there are no speakers in the extensions, and you must use both extensions or none.

I am excited to see all this excitment.
I hope this translates into the Bose stores as well.
This will be something that, as far as I know, all Bose Stores will be carrying, which will make it easy for almost anyone on here to actually go see, hear and touch the new L1C.

We in the King of Prussia, PA store are as excited as everyone on here to be carrying this. I think and know this will open up much more business and introduce people to the L1 family.

Great work and thanks to all on the Corporate L1 team.

Ken, Cliff, Chris, Neil, Weik, Guy and all you other "at-Bose" folks -

Congratulations on the method and way in which you have introduced and rolled-out the L1C! Seriously, you have done a tremendous job of rolling out the new L1C product! The product photos and associated information are easy to find, both on your Bose Website and here in the Message Board and it all appears to have been a well orchestrated happening! On top of that, the product looks cool and appears to be at a very competitive price point. There’s a new kid on the block for the competition to worry about now….

Kudos to the L1C product team!!!

Hi!

(pant, pant, pant)

We are totally rocking here in Frankfurt. Every show yesterday was packed to the gills, with people waiting in line to get in. They seemed to really love the presentation and the new product.

I'm super happy to see that you all are learning about the new system, and asking questions that help us help you understand things better.

Here's a picture I took just a few minutes ago of the line outside the truck to get into the presentation.

I have to go now to do a show. Can't wait to tell you more. (We're going to upload new videos to the Wiki tonight so check back. Here's the link to the Wiki article.)

That's a change... I thought that the L1 family had been pulled from the stores. Is this a shift in policy or an exception for this one product?

It looks like the full range speaker column might be a bit shorter than what we have seen in the past.

Power and bass module together makes sense to me. No more need for a fan, and one less handfull to carry in and out.

Will it power two additional B1s?

Can't wait for the details.

O..

Yo O!

Yes, the truck's sides expand like an accordion. The inside holds about 25 comfortably in seats, but people are squeezing in every which way. It's boiling hot which is a drag for we workers but the excitement is so high it's really OK.

I just added a video to the Wiki Article that shows the outside of the truck a bit.

Andrew,

The L1 Compact will be offered in all Bose retail stores, the L1 model I and model II will remain in select stores only.

So yes, this is a departure from what you have seen in the past and great visibility for the L1.

In addition the L1 Compact system will be carried by our existing L1 distribution such as Guitar Center, Musicians Friend, and speciality shops.

That's right. There are six high power drivers in the array section and the two extensions have no drivers.

You can use either or both extensions but we didn't see applications where there are advantages to using one so we don't promote it that way.
