Hi Folks,

We've been talking about a multi-stop L1 Road Show for a few weeks now (closer to a few months).

Then, a few days ago, Kurt-at-Bose-Stores made a post that was like he was a mind reader.

It galvanized me to go ahead and announce to this community that we intend to do this -- very much along the lines of what Kurt is suggesting.

Cliff-at-Bose and I will be the travelling part of the show. Because of professional and family responsibilities, we'll be able to go out for short bursts of 5-10 days (10 is the absolute maximum). For this reason, we're thinking about stringing pearls together that don't require air travel except for the end points.

Our first target is the West Coast of North America. We'd like to start in Vancouver, and then work our way down the coast, ending in Southern California. We think we can hit three or four hot spots.

As usual, so much of this depends on those of you who live in these areas. We'll really need your help and inspiration.

We can pull customer names using zip codes and make contact that way. We also may be able to get Guitar Center and Musician's Friend to do a mailing or email blast to their customers.

The focus of the sessions would be:

1. Helping musicians understand if the L1 is right for them
2. Getting the most out of the L1 approach
3. Music

Would you be willing to help us bring this into sharper focus?

Are you interested in hosting the show?

Are you interested in attending?

What are your thoughts about how to make it the best it can be?

I truly look forward to working with this community to hammer this out.

With best regards,

Ken

Hi Ken,

I'm in of course.

Attending if you have someone else lined up to host and handle logistics.

If those things are not yet worked out, then let's talk.

I would love to do some workshops for different groups.

Single / Duo acoustic oriented acts

Trio and larger ensembles.

If we start with #2 then I think the other two flow naturally from that.

Are there any venues out your way where we accommodate up to 2-300 people? We don't have to fill the place, but for a realistic simulation of how the L1®s perform in spaces that big, it would be nice to work in a place that big.

This is very cool...and I think now is the perfect time to do it.
Not that people are going to part with their money right now, they probably aren't.
But as everyone is watching cash flow, a free musical conference would be fun and a welcome relief from worries.
Educate folks now and they will have thought it over by the time the economy improves.

Sounds fantastic! Please keep me posted on this too as you move through other parts of the country. I'm happy to help/be involved in any way(s) I can. My home is in Northern Virginia but I will also be in the Midwest and Florida for periods of time in 2009.

Ken & Cliff -

I see a "Route 66" road show in your future...at least through the Midwest/Southwestern portion of the USA. Chicago, IL to Albuquerque, NM...swinging thru St. Louis of course.

Or, perhaps a "Mississippi River Run" from St. Paul/Minneapolis to New Orleans. This one could be a "theme" tour....The Mississippi River of Song - The American Grassroots of Music.

Let me know if you need anything my way...be more than glad to help in whatever capacity.

John

Ken, Cliff,

You guys need a folk singing guitar thumper to help carry your bags?

Where did I go wrong? A ten day trip to the west coast to play and sing and talk about music and the finest delivery system in the world, and it's all part of your day job!!!!

Sounds like a great idea. Let me know when you come to my area.

O..

I can think of a few places that might be suitable. What are you thinking?

Nothing specific just yet.

Just thinking out loud I guess. I can imagine a clinic of sorts. I would like to deliver tangible value for a core audience while providing others the opportunity to learn about and experience the L1® - perhaps for the first time.

It would be nice to do that in space that would otherwise be suitable for a live performance — so I'm thinking of a space larger than a music store showroom.

Of course it's not a great simulation if the room is only sparsely populated.

Just thinking out loud.

Oh my gosh!

What a great outpouring. I wish I could punch out right now and not come back for six months!.

Hey, we'll do it. We'll come to you. We just need time.

John, I am SO down with that idea. Being totally IN LOVE with both Minneapolis and New Orleans, the Mississippi trip appeals to me enormously.

Obviously we would hit St. Louis.

This feels like #2 to me.

Anybody else out there on the West Coast? SeaTac? Bay Area? Big Sur? Bakersville? LA? San Diego?

On the Mississippi tour, don't forget Memphis. Lots of music there. Gibson guitar, Graceland, BBQ Ribs, oh my. We're always looking for a reason to get to Beale Street.

Respect,
Col. Andy

Sounds great Ken & Cliff! Y'all come on down to TEXAS when you can...

I also, again, urge you to consider a presence at the Dallas International Guitar Show - next one is April 2009 - your exposure would be incredible, literally 100,000 guitar players.

Best luck and safe journeys!
