Welcome!

We're glad you are here. This is a friendly, caring, and knowledgeable community.

It only takes a minute to register.

You'll need an email address to activate your membership. We do not use or sell your email for any reason other than running this message board.

There are many benefits to registering besides posting, such as private messaging to and from any other member, and automatic email notification when a reply comes to your question if you choose.

  1. How to Register

Look at the right hand side of your screen and you'll see where it says "Login/Join".

Just click there and you'll be prompted for a few things. (It's not required, but it can be very helpful if you provide your location -- at least a country -- because we can tell you where to go for help better.)

Once you finish, you'll get an automatic email. You MUST click on the link in the email to activate your membership. We take this step to prevent someone from signing you up without your knowledge.

Once you click on the verification link, sign in to the message board by clicking on the "Login/Join" link.

Go ahead now and get registered and signed in. Then come back here to learn a few things about getting the most from this community.

  2. Your First Post
Find the forum that most closely matches the question you have.

    Click on that forum.

Then click on the "New" tab at the top of your screen, and select "Discussion" underneath.

Here you'll be able to start a new discussion or "thread" by asking your question. (Remember the moderators will have to clear your post first before you see it and others can respond to it. This usually takes less than an hour and often just a few minutes.

Or, you can browse discussion and if you want to join in, just click on the "Reply" tab at the bottom of any discussion.

  3. Keeping Current
Many people in this community check in from time to time and want to read what's happened since the last time there were here.

There's a very easy way to do this.

Click on the "Find" tab at the top of your screen and then click on item underneath called "New Since Your Last Visit."

  4. Staying in Touch With a Specific Thread
Let's say you post a question and want to know if someone's answered it. Or let's say you're really digging a certain discussion and want to know if someone has added to it.

There's an easy way to do this.

When your looking at the topic of interest, just click on the "Notify" tab at the top of the window.

Then click on the checkbox marked "Immediate notification by email." Then click on "Add Notification".

You'll then get an email (to whatever email address you used when you registered) whenever someone posts to the topic. The email will include the content in the new post and an easy link back to the topic.

  5. Searching for Information
There are two ways to search for information, one more comprehensive than the other. Start with the first, and then use the second if you still don't find what you need.

The first is to click on the "Find" tab at the top of your screen. You can either type a keyword directly into the field under the tab, or click on "Advanced Search" to narrow things down.

The second method is to take advantage of a google search of our Message Board. Click here and I'll take you there now.

  6. Get a System Designed for your Band
We can design a system for your band using a tool called "Sketcher". It's very easy to use. Graphically, right from your browser, you drag and drop your instrument setup onto a stage and click "submit".

The example below shows you a setup for a band that used the tool recently.

Then, we'll send you a drawing back that shows you how we recommend you equip the band. It's fun and easy.

Try it now or Learn More

  7. Etiquette
Use common sense. You will find that this is a highly respectful community. We do disagree on things, but we try to do so in a way that doesn't attack another member.

We do not "flame" each other or say disparaging things about each other.

We try to be clear about the difference between fact and opinion.

  8. Why don't my posts appear immediately?
Moderators look at posts before sending them onto the public forum.

We are looking for vulgar language and posts that are either deliberately or mistakenly about something other than the L1™ family of products.

We welcome all kinds of feedback, including criticism. Negative reviews are NEVER a reason for rejecting a post.

In almost a year of operation, and thousands and thousands of posts, the number of times we have rejected a post can be counted on one hand.

Questions that Get Answers
Here are a few suggestions to help you get the best answer to your question as quickly as possible. This list was inspired by an article on the Microsoft site.

  1. Search
the forum using this search form with Google or the Forum Find Tool
It's likely someone has already answered your question. If you find it, you won't have to wait for someone to see your post to get an answer.

  2. Post in the correct forum
Experts in various areas tend to stick to forums that focus on those areas so you are more likely to get an answer if you ask in the right forum.

A question about a Guitar processor in the Vocals area will likely take a lot longer to be answered than the same question in the Guitar forum.

The forum descriptions are good indications of what you will find in each area.

  3. Use the Subject line to Describe the problem
We are all volunteers on the forum. We often skim through question subjects to quickly find the ones where we can be helpful.

A Subject line: "Urgent! Help needed!"
is not as likely to get answered as
"Wireless mic to Channel 1/2 or 3/4?".

A specific, detailed subject is far more likely to get a response than a general one.

  4. Give details about your problem
    Rather than
"When I turn on the power I get feedback, please help",
provide details like the make/model of the microphone, how it is being used (vocal or instrument) and the general environment (for example: room size, stage size, distance from the microphone).

If possible, include the make and model and a link to any non-Bose gear that is part of part of your signal chain.

If you are connecting something to Channels 1 or 2, please tell us if you are using XLR connections or 1/4 inch phone connections. It makes a difference.

The more information you provide when you ask your question, the more likely it is that the first response will be an answer instead of a request for details.

  5. What have you already tried?
Tell us what you have already tried and what happened when you did it. Details are the keys to your answer.

  6. When you get a solution add " - solved" to your Subject line
It lets people scanning the forums know that they can find an answer to that question by reading the thread.

  7. Stay on Topic
IF you are reading a discussion and want to ask a related question, consider posting it as a new question in new discussion.

You will likely get more focus for your question this way, and you will not be distracting from the original discussion.

  8. Resurrect Old Discussions
If you come across an old discussion and want to pursue it, just post another message in the same discussion. If you start a new discussion, you lose the connection to the history and context that the old discussion provides. If you really want to start a new discussion - please post a link to the old one.

The moderators try to keep spam and abusive or vulgar comments out of the forums. However if you do catch something that was missed, use the report button (yellow triangle at the bottom right of every post) to let the moderators know about your concerns. (See the figure below.) We all want to keep the forums on-topic and a friendly place to go for help with your questions!

Recently there's been a few examples that have gone on the boards that should not have. We will not remove these, but will enforce this term going forward.

Please do not use the public part of this message board to buy and sell gear. There are many great places elsewhere to do that.

It's okay to use private messaging to communicate about gear.

Sincerely,
